After 3 weeks, now I got my car back..
Initially went in for door lock repair and dealer fixed the following
Front pass/driver door actuators
Valve guide seal
Oil separator
Oil return cover
Plus associated nuts, hoses, gaskets, and clamps. Too many to list.
Coolant and antifreeze
Also, bank 2 Oxygen sensor
Alignment

The engine was dropped to perform the valve job

It's too early to tell if the oil consumption has improved but since there are 2 years warranty so I am not worried
Car has 60k so I expect it should be good for another 60k
I have extended warranty for the actuators and oxygen sensor so I paid $250 (actual cost was $2800)
As for the valve seal job, per the settlement, estimated$7k to $9k, that's what I was told.
I didn't have the engine replacement due to the oil consumption rate is not severe, 3 liters in 4k miles, also due to the lower mileage on the meter.
I didn't have the oil test done, the dealer just let the car idled for couple minutes and observed the smoke and sent to BMW for approval.
I just wanted to share my experience and see if anyone had their valve job done, any update on the oil consumption after would be appreciated.

I did my own valve seal repair since my dealer was a pain in the arse along with my 3rd party warranty. I fought up to VP of the warranty company and stated they are not willing to cover anything until my engine blows up.....and I heard they do very sketchy things to remedy the issue.

So....at 100k miles I performed the seals replacement along with associated gaskets and other things.

I'm at 118, near 119k miles which means about 1-2k miles away from my next oil change ( interval 5-6k miles)

No oil loss reported. Gauge said full. 9 quarts goes in, 8.5 or so comes back out.

Thanks for the update. Good to hear.. I can only say that we all have love and hate relationship with N63. For now, she is tamed for at least a while .

I cannot imagine owning a car that has a $7k to $9k routine maintenance job every 60k miles.

You have to understand even if you assumed a low-end base purchase price of this car of 70k that for 60k miles, 10% of the value of the car for repairs is not unreasonable.

But in regards to the valve seal job, I would opt for a new engine altogether if we're comparing a difference of 2-3k between a repair on an old engine and a brand new one, considering the risk of other worn components failing in the near future.

The sad thing comparing this to an eco car though is at 100k miles it's typical to replace some bushings and timing belt, whereas in the 550 the whole engine is a typical wear and replace item for the same period. Your Camry isn't pushing 400 bhp though.

I had my valve guide seals done in June, I noticed Im still sitting at full on oil.

I had my valve stem repairs done on February along with some oil lines,coolant hoses and some other stuff. My car was still under CPO warranty at the time so it was covered as they observed the blue smoke from the tailpipes and my low oil light warning on(again).My SA told me it was a 8K repair and the oil level meter always reads full now even in hot weather with traffic. I was pleased as the car seems to be running better after it was done. I didn't even pay the deductible as it was probably under the lawsuit going on with this.

Hello, sorry if I'm repeating or missing info, Im new to this so please bear with me.
I recently purchased (last month) 2011 550i 65K milage-mint condition from an original owner (a friend of mine). No problem with the car or the engine what so ever other than having to top it with oil every once n while (my friend told me 1-2 qt between oil changes). I dropped my car to the dealership for an oil change 3 days ago and they told me about the n63 lawsuit and the test so I left it with them and they gave me a loaner. I got a call today they told me it failed the test and it qualifies for the repair (new valve stem seals) no charge and they are doing a free oil change after the job is done. but the warranty after the repairs and the post tests is only 30 days.

my question is; anybody dealt with a similar situation with problems after the repair? what should i pay attention too once my car is finished and is a 30 day warranty normal after such repair?

well this is interesting so what you saying BMW paid for your valve job
I have 2013 550i is this something I should look into getting my valve seals done?

Yes. My understanding is that the valve job is free but replacing the engine will cost you per the settlement which is based on the mileage and year
