I have no idea what you're asking. Are you asking if it is OK to get a new engine? Or are you asking is it OK to use a replacement engine with 170,000 miles already on it? Or are you asking if it is OK that someone replaced your 170,000 mile engine with a new one?

You could be easily looking at 10k plus work on that car in the near future. Look away, do not regret, buy it and you will regret and probably lose all your hair lol. |

170k miles on it, who knows whats ready to fail next. Look for a better deal, buying that would be like gambling all your money knowing you wont win.

Was the replacement engine brand new (fresh from the factory) when installed? If not, how many miles were on the engine? |

I would walk away from that car and pickup a 535 theres alot of cheap ones around here right now in the 100k mile range for 12-14k. Spend 350$ on a mhd tune and it feels just as fast as a 550i but without the headache.

Nah don't listen to these biased haters 550 is the way to go. Just find out the mileage of the installed engine and who did the work, to get a better idea of what you're looking at.

N63 is on the worse side of things. With all the evidence filled with issues on the internet not sure how you can say that. He will need warranty to own this car. |

If he gets a new engine and rest of the stuff under CCP he should have a very reliable car. But that being said that is a lot of miles on the car so everything else might be in bad shape. OP PM me a vin ill check repair records for this car. |

Mileage is way to high. I don't think that cars worth more than 8k even with the new engine. When you try to sell that car later down the road no one is going to want to buy a bmw with 200k miles especially with a n63. Everyones scared of modern bmws with high mileage which is why there such a huge price difference between a 80k and 100k mile car. I bet a dealership would appraise that car for 5k or less.

Couple things to consider, what maintenance was done, aftermarket warranty. Also if paying cash will they negotiate a lower price? If not lower price GET a warranty and make sure it covers more then the engine. That would be the only way id purchase this. 550i are very nice dispite the problems of the n63, with a warranty covering the car it will be better you will enjoy every moment of the power!
