I have 800 miles on my 2012 550xi msport and a bubble already in one tire. Goodyear does not have any of these runflats in stock any where in the usa and has offered me 4 tires of my choice and brand. I am undecided between michelin and continental dws that has a better write up than the michelins and comes with road hazzard. I realize i will have to carry a spare as these are not runflats. I am also going to cancell the tire insurance i purchased from bmw as it is not needed since i am dealing directly with goodyear

Say away from the Conti DWS. Needsdecaf (a member here) put them on his car and had a terrible experience. You want the Mitchelin Primacy HP ZP tires or the Dunlop GT DSST tires.

The Conti DWS is a soft and light tire. For non-RFTs on an F10, I would recommend looking for tires with higher load ratings which would be a bit stiffer.

If you don't plan on having a second set of snow tires then your best bet will probably be Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus in 245/40/19. If you want to soften the ride a bit then Michelin Primacy MXM4.

From my source the Goodyear LS2's are now a BMW Dealership only item! Due to the National Backorder of this tire earlier this year, BMW took steps to make sure they had stock of this particular run-flat tire and now they can mark up the price accordingly. :-(

Tire options for our cars with 19's are limited because of the recommended load-rating. It might even be worth it to invest in non-RFT tires and keeping a spare in the trunk!

Currently the only All-Season Run-Flat tire that's available for our cars is the Goodyear LS2. Now that it's a BMW Dealership only item, many owners may resort to doing a 3 season set and a Winter Tire with a spare!n When my 2012 comes, I'm seriously considering buying a 2nd set of wheels for Winter which is about the same price as BMW's Wheel and Tire Protection.

If you want an all-season runflat and don't want to get a 19" LS2 from a BMW dealer, then your best choice is an 18" all-season runflat. Goodyear will pay for all four tires under warranty and you buy the wheels. If you read http://www.autoweek.com/article/2011...IEWS/111029979 you'll see what you're in for if you stick with the 19" wheels especially in this part of the country.

Please avoid the Continental DWS!!! My 2011 BMW 535i xdrive had them for 2 months and I had vibration, wandering, sloppy feel and they were road force balanced and replaced 2 times and the sidewalls of these craps are so bad that I got rid of them and got my money back. I am going for the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires as they are much superior for the money. Cheap tires = cheap price.

I'm tired of this subject.

Time and time again people have posted - dating back to last JULY (2010), and no one has had the BALLS (spine/chutzpah/whatever) to join in a lawsuit against BMW.

I've contacted the NHTSA, BMW USA, and Goodyear, and received a grand total of NOTHING.

So if people want to actually DO SOMETHING, let's band together.

Otherwise - tough sh-t dealing with your tires.

I'll post no 4 then.... Can't wait for the i3, the f11 will go back I'll have a i3 and the money I save on fuel will be spent on holidays every year.... Or hire cars if I need to travel long distances....

I had a 19" Goodyear replaced at the dealer due to a bubble in the sidewall. This was a summer performance tire, the Excellence 245-40-19. Refund for unused tread is coming from Goodyear, since they carry a road hazard warranty for the life of the tire. BMW dealer had it in one day. Local Goodyear dealer said it would take a day or two. Cost $500 installed.

My next auto purchase will not be one with runflats. Looking at 2013 S5, a much better car for my needs than a BMW 5 series. That would replace the A3.

Welcome the club!

Call Goodyear customer service and get a claim number. If the tire has under 8/32 tread wear the replacement is free. The dealer has a gauge to measure - @ 800 miles you are definitely covered. The dealer can process the free replacement with their distributor using a Goodyear claim number.

In the case of other Goodyear tires that are readily available, Goodyear will replace the tire and pay for associated labor charges at company stores. In my experience, the dealership agreed to process the new tire free of charge but charged me to mount and balance because they are outside of Goodyears network. 500 miles later and its back to the dealer with another bubble.

These tires suck! And they might be the reason I wil not be purchasing another BMW for some time. Good Luck.

Is it possible you can cancel the tire insurance from bmw? I bought my self too and since I will get the new sets of after market wheels, I would like to cancel mine too. If it's possible. I purchased my car on 10/31/11 and ran about 1000miles.

I was considering the BMW coverage and as I remember you can cancel their policy for a refund of the unused premium. Not sure if they pro-rate or short-rate the refund.
