White and Gray 2011 F10 5-series testing in Holland (9/3/09)

Seems that we're now seeing new daily shots of the F10 5-series, and that's fine by us as it's shaping up to be a gorgeous car!

Wow...nice catch....YET again.
No one seems to miss a beat when these cars go out cruising.

Looks good as usual, but I still can't make out the headlight design.

So will they be showcasing this one at the Frankfurt motor show and letting us know of the release date? I thought it was a yes and now im not so sure...

No, we won't be seeing the F10 5-series at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Best bet right now is the Geneva show next year, although that is still not set in stone.

They still need to sell a lot of E60s, wouldn't be smart to release it now.

What strikes me is how large the rear doors/glass appear. If you remove the camo, it almost looks like an "L" version.

At this point BMW has most likely given out pre-production versions to key employees to test-drive out in the real world, and in turn they then give their feedback. So basically it's the same people out and about everytime. Once the photographers figure out where those people live they'll just scope out the neighborhood...

The F07 will usher in the LED DRLs and Halos- they are actually bright enough to use as low beams at night. The F10 will definitely feature these. They are spectacular. There is some talk of LED low beams being tested by certain engineers and for use on certain models and projects- I can't elaborate on this at this time, but that they save 3 lbs of weight per light and require a lot less use of the battery.

Also there will be new "mood" lighting in the interior along similar lines.

I don't think they are there just yet but soon enough.

The wheel base looks longer because it is, they stretched the wheels out closer to the ends for less over hang and increased interior room. This car was engineered along with the F01 so many of the underpinnings will be similar, All wheel steering etc.

Mazz, these most recent FEP shots seem (to me) like people just going about their everyday business....stopping at a gas station, getting Chinese food, etc.

I know we can't tell if they're testing something specific or not, this just seems like the same stage that the E90 was in way back in September of '04.

I would agree except these cars are still being covered and followed by other BMWAG vehicles... When they give them to the plant execs and corporate people they are let loose and have no restraints- a big whig is not going to tarp a car!
BMW also has 3rd parties (Bertrnandt in the past) to test vehicles and provide feedback at this stage.

It will be soon enough these are ready to fly solo..
