I bought 'em. They would not have worked for a 550 because of the extra weight up front.

Good for you Mike, can't wait to see your car lower on them. Maybe it can help me make up my mind to finally get either the ACS or H&Rs.

My car actually went back up a bit...the difference between Eibach and ACS turned out to be only 1/8" with Eibach's being the lower of the two.

How is the ride quality and handling of ACS vs Eibach?

The Eibach ride is a sports-quality ride, but not in a hyper-active teenager way...with Eibach, I had a superb sense of the road and every tire's contact with it but the ride is fine for fully functional DD car. The ACS feel is slightly less "immediate"...bumps and dips are damped a bit. To summarize in a way which all of you with the Sport Package will understand, I feel that the Eibachs are a Sport+ ride, and ACS are Sport.

Having had both, I'd be happy with either. My main reason for switching was to regain a little ride height.

Thanks for the input. I am still debating on what springs to go with if any. But based on feedbacks, ACS is what I am leaning on.

Mike, I'd love to get a ride in your car to see how they feel.

Thanks for the feedback on the comparison. How long did you use the Eibach springs and did you notice of any tire wear on the innerwall? Also since the drop is lower than ACS, were you able to get the alignment back to OEM specs?

Thanks

I used the Eibach springs for 10 months and fewer than 11k miles the alignment with Eibachs was in spec and my tires are wearing well. Mine are not staggered so I do rotate them. The ACS have only a 1/8" less drop so the alignment is still in spec, just a little closer to center of the spec range.

Are you trying to decide on springs?

Yes, I've been contemplating for awhile between ACS and Eibach. I know Eibach been a spring manufacture for quite a long time and I used Eibach on my Honda accord.

But I noticed with BMW's, everyone rolls on ACS or H&R for springs, rarely Eibach.

I spent many weeks reviewing the options and asking forum members questions, as you are. I can say that I am happy to have started with Eibachs, and I am happy to have changed to ACS. Having tried both, I think I would go with ACS again, but not at the price I see listed online. When comparing prices online, the Eibach's still come out at around $350 and the ACS are about $300 more.

If you don't mind having had someone else do the break-in on the springs, there are some used, of all flavors, for sale on this forum and on bimmerfest. You can therefore have a lower cost of entry to try the springs, and less regret if you change your mind later. I know my Eibachs are up for sale, and I've also seen listings for H&R and ACS springs and some coil over products. I got my ACS springs used from this very thread, obviously, and they are fine.
