The design of the 520D brakes differ significantly from the 530/535/550, not only are they small, but they’re also visually completely different. It does the car (of this size), zero justice.

I should add, the standard brake setup doesn't look so bad with smaller wheels e.g 18inch, as there's little distance between the rotors and the wheel circumference, but when running 20s, they just look out of place.
I get that, but I feel 370 on rears might be a bit too overkill on that car. I run 20's and think the 345's look fine. You might also start running into brake bias problems, as the car isn't expecting to have so much brake torque in the rear.

Anyone know if the G30 rear brake caliper fit the F10/11 with the 345x24mm disc? Thank you.

Are you after the G30 caliper looks, or just the rotor size? The 550i uses the same size rear rotors.

__________

Bit of an update on the G11 retrofit. I forgot to account for the 5mm spacers when test fitting the 343M's. 343M's do NOT clear the calipers by like 1-2mm, so you'll need 3mm spacers. I have them on order from Apex, so hopefully, will be able to finally tackle this in a week...

Coding? There's no coding involved.

Bleeding maybe, but not coding.

If you want to bleed/flush the whole system you'll need ISTA software or some other method of cycling all the ABS and traction control solenoids, but that shouldn't be necessary if all you did was change calipers. Unless maybe the car sat with no calipers for a long time and enough fluid leaked out that the reservoir went dry?

Wow, that is a TIGHT squeeze! I hope the tire place was smart with where they placed the wheel weights, as I don't think you can get one between the wheel and caliper! At any rate, I'm sure folks will be happy to know they don't have to upgrade wheels in order to do this mod.

Honestly, given how tight that 18" sits, I bet it varies wildly from rim to rim. At least with 19 and 20 rims, you know they'll definitely clear the barrels.

To be honest they look very very similar to the F10 M5 calipers.

Interesting! It looks like the biggest they accommodate is 350x34 rotors? Do they need adapters or are they bolt on?

G30 brakes retrofitted. 376x36 front, 345x24 rear. Needed a 8mm spacer (plus accompanying hub extender) to fit under the 343M's, as the corner of the calipers kept touching the spokes. In hindsight, I wish I took these to a machine shop before powder coating and had them machine back the corner a bit more, since there's a solid amount of meat there still. Oh well. First impressions:

Feels really good, but in a very subjective way. You get a lot more braking power up front, so the brakes feel more responsive but also takes more conscious control. The original brakes are more progressive and so you can really modulate the precise amount of braking power you want for silky smooth stops, while the brembos can be a bit jerky. If you overreact on the brakes you can really jerk yourself forward due to the unexpected braking force. Personally, I prefer to get more braking power up front and then back off as I need it, but for instance my dad like to have less initially and then have it build as he pushes harder. To each their own. From my very crude test at 40mph, stopping distance is worse by a slight amount due to the increased weight.

Need custom brackets and will be using 2pc 380mm rotors. Unsure of thickness though.

Hopefully all fits under my 437Ms.. lol

Maybe around a 2mm clearance. Kind of hard to photograph properly.

Those of us who did the X5m swap, had to use a 4mm spacer to move the caliper outwards, to ensure the rotor surface lines up in the center of the caliper as intended. Did you have to do a similar adjustment to line up caliper with rotor braking surface?

Hi Unspec, thanks for the update on your G30 mod! It seems like this takes a bit more effort than the X5M caliper mod, so can I ask why you went this direction instead of the X5M calipers? They do look really great, though!
