I purchased it completely assembled from Birds Automotive in the UK, and had it shipped here. Very reputable company!

This is a different gearing ratio for the manual(?) I think the manual has a shorter-geared rear end. Does anyone know if there are other differences? (I.e. if I wanted this for my 6MT would it work and simply be taller geared?)
Procommuter - you say you're running this Quaife now. Generally, do you notice a significant improvement on the street? I find getting enough traction with my open diff very difficult even on the street, ESPECIALLY on wet days. And on the track is was horrible, just horrible. I really want to ditch this open diff. But these cars' traction control is very damned heavy-handed so I worry that an LSD will even do very much for me (with the same traction control programming). |

MT cars have different gears in the rear end due to the fact they are 6spds vs. 8 spds.

RealOEM does not provide the rear differential casting numbers, so I cannot guarantee it is a direct fit swap. It does appear that the casting numbers "241681 10" on the one I have, and the BMW 33107584444 for a manual transmission that I can find online appear to be the same. I would recommend verifying the casting numbers in your car compared to the photos. If you want/need a photo from another angle, or want to verify dimensions just PM me...

Weird, did the 8 speed auto came in 2 ratios… 2.81 and 3.08?

On the F10 LCI 5 series platform I see that there was a 3.23 for manual, and 3.08 for the 8 speed automatic. I don't see any other offerings.
Looks like some E39 5 series came with 2.81 ratio with non Steptronic auto, as well as the M Performance LSD for F3X M240i/340i/440i Autos. May be more, but that is I found on a quick Google search. Not an expert on this.
