2013 550i Oil consumption
Hello ya'll,
As a person who babied their previous car (VW Jetta) and now this beautiful machine, I am even more of careful its maintenance. Today I received my first engine oil at minimum level notification (which was orange). I immediately freaked as I've researched about this engine eating up oil. When I got this car in February it was clocked in at 18k miles, now it has over 21k miles. I haven't observed any leaks from the past few days in my driveway or around my engine bay (I typically do a thorough check of my car on the weekends). I did do what others did and the manual said, add a 1 quart if oil. The level is back at its max now (green). I also checked its oil level before putting in the quart and it still read at minimum (orange). I could be just overly paranoid but is this normal for BMWs in general? or this car? Would this be a normal interval when adding a 1 quart as this being my daily(3000miles)? I just wanna take really good care of this beauty. Thanks! |

My 2013 550 burned one quarter every 1500 miles. After the CCP's valve stem seal replacement, I never had to add oil between oil changes. Not sure if yours had the CCP repair but most likely, that's the issue with excess oil consumption. Try couple bottles of liqui moly oil saver.
