European Delivery of AW BMW F10

Hello Folks,

First post for me, though not my first BMW. So, hopefully I can do it right. I just returned from Germany doing ED for my F10. Had great time driving the car in Europe. I have to say the 535 is way improved compared to my 328. I will post more details/pics soon, but now here are just a few.

Congrats on one nice motor.

My choice was either as you have gone for or Deep Sea Blue with oyster / black - finally went for the latter - 27 days to wait.

Also have a trip through Europe planned a couple of months after delivery - driving to Venice through Germany / Austria and returning through Paris via Switzerland - should be fun.

Wow, looks great. Thanks for the pics. Really contemplating the AW/Cinn combo.

We're looking to do ED as well for Apr/May timeframe.

Looks great. You will have to describe the delivery experience for us. By the looks of the pictures, BMW does the job right.

Currious, did you remeber to take the warning triangle and first aid kit out of the trunk and bring it back with you? (Were they there in the first place?)

Bet you can't wait to get the car back again.

Looks amazing and congrats!

Just curious, what did BMW use to hold the front Euro Delivery plate? Double side tape or epoxy?

I was thinking same here ... but my SUV is blue so wanted to go with the White. IMHO, it looks great on the 5.

That trip should be fun. I wished my vacation was longer, but for the few days I stayed, I enjoyed driving around Germany and Austria.

Delivery experience is great. First ED for me, but BMW takes care of all details - besides the air ticket and the hotel.

Yes, I took the warning triangle and first aid kit out of the trunk. The rep told me to take it out because it required for every car to have in Germany but not in USA. So when they ship the car to US, these items are taken out and sold as used. So, I brought them back with me. Nice and handy set for emergency.

OK, now that I cannot wait to get the car, does anyone know how to check the status of the ship/vessel. I remember reading about a tracking system here before but do not recall where was it.

I'm sure it is not a double side tape. I asked he same question to the rep when I saw the plate so close to the bumper with no holder. He told me they use special type glue and assured me when I receive the car in US they will take it off with no impact at all. We'll see

Glad to hear that you grabbed the triangle and first aid kit. I'm not sure if the European delivery is the same as from the factory...for tracking, probably depends on where you dropped the car off. Regardless, go the the beginning of the forums section on this site, and you will see the subject titled for tracking. These threads should guide you through to see if you can track.

On the subject of the plate, I'll throw my personal experience in. Prior to delivery of the car, I told my dealer that I would take care of putting on the plate holder. My state requires a front plate and I really didn't want to put it on, especially using the plastic bracket. I ended up doing so, but used a weather resistant foam tape made by Scotch Brand, that I picked up at Ace Hardware. Since the tape was only 1/16" thick, I doubled it in thickness, putting one layer around the plate perimeter, and one in the center. It has absolutley held up great, is super low profile, and I like it so much better than the bracket assembly. The bracket may not bug you and that's fine, (and you may not need to have a front plate anyway) just throwing out another alternative that others have written about in this forum.

The thin bar on the door handles confirm the lights package, not the Comfort Acces.
But, in the same time. The Comf. Acc. it cames with lights package.

You can order only the lights package (without comf. acc) and the door handles will have the chrome bar.

On firsts BMW catalogs it was a mistake. They said chrome line on handles only with comf. acc, but in reallity it wasn't true.

I have lights package, without comf. acc and i have the chrome on the door handles
