Today I bought my first BMW , f10 528i . I got it from the auction with a small rear damage. The bumper was off the car when I got it because they had to inspect the damage under the bumper. So I started reinstalling the rear bumper and came across this cable that I cant find where to plug it in. I know the other four plugs are for the rear sensor but cant find where this one plugs in . Can you guys help me out ?

Hopefully this uploads... the angle is all wrong because I've crammed myself between the garage door and the car. No light and it's impossible to hold the phone correctly. I have no idea what this is but it's located inside of the lower bumper cover. Might have something to do with the valve in the right exhaust outlet. I see a vac line so I'd guess there's a solenoid in the area to actuate the valve.
Just take a look behind the muffler on the side closest to the center of the car. The plug looks like yours. Maybe. |

Good point. I'm still thinking of that sensor being under the spare tire in the previous gen.

nice mod.. I will like to see a video of this mod so I can hear it.. This is something I am thinking of doing to my 535i but I am afraid that it will be too loud.

@Ickdeep
I am currently trying almost the same straight pipe setup as yours and the drone between 1200 - 1500 rpm is loud. Is yours the same? How did you deal with the drone and vibration in the low rpm range? High revs and burble sound amazing though. |

Cold starts are a bit mental but sound tuff af. Once warm its pretty quiet. Can get a little droney sometimes but more so only in normal mode. Sports mode, the noises are different and gear changes are way better imo. Plus the down shifting and slowing down u get crackles and pops.. beasty! Try it and if it's not for u, get some muffs back on! Easy |

Cold starts are loud, but a great growling sound. Not very drone like. My car drones a bit in comfort mode but only in low RPM when city driving. Highway cruising is no drone, a little humming is what I would call it. I have taken a few roadtrips with the muffler delete and it was really comfortable. With the radio even at a minimal volume, you hardly hear the exhaust. In sport mode it has almost no drone and sounds great. If you think its a little loud for you, just add a resonator and it has virtually no drone. Sounds really clean with a resonator. Quote:

Scored a pair of M5 Competition Package Mufflers for $240 local and had my buddy, who owns a muffler shop, install those and do a resonator delete. Also got a chance to put on my BMS intake. Still debating whether or not to install the JB4 and Catless downpipe I bought from a fellow forum member.
Not really f10 related but just thought I'd share the e91.. because bimmer things Last edited by all_mota; 11-11-2018 at 05:04 PM.. |
