Bad FM reception - after installing rear dashcam!

Hi all

I have an 2015 F11.

I have fitted a Blackvue 2CH dashcam, with both rear and front.

After fitting the wires for the rear under the trim on the back window,
my FM reception has become really weird, like periodically bad signal (scratchings) and all stations disappearing from the list.

Does anyone have idea what i might have fucked up?

Disconnecting the power to the dashcam doesn’t seem to have much effect.

I can take more pictures if needed...

Can't see the pic...

You didn't inadvertently unplug the connection to the grid, did you? Don't ask how I know such things

If i did i havent found out where :-) All plugs seems good.

My best theory is a either a broken fuse that the antenne amplifier was killed by static electricity - even though i dont know if i touched it or not.

Which connection should i look for?

Fixed so the image is visible.

From what I can find this should be the box called A122 - https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...aerials/q-A122

I can't find what fuse this should belong to, but I can see from the function description https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...d-tou/Bl8NuY3H,
that I should see an error in the computer, if this is broken.

Might take this my mechanic to get this checked out or see if my Carly can see anything.

This is a known issue, interference from the dashcam cable run being too close to the aerial. More commonly affects DAB than FM. Loads of info on it, plus fixes, in the F30 forum. Try https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...ption+blackvue as a start point.

Just one note I don't have DAB, and everyone that I can find seems to be affected on DAB and not FM, but why should you use FM if you have DAB, but I don't have that :)

I haven't really made the goal on this one - even I disconnect the wire to the rear dash cam I still have issues.

I have also installed a Blackvue Battery pack + expansion in the small compartment under the floor in the lugageroom - and taking a fuse tap on fuse 48 (147) in the back.

I also installed a router with a 4G modem along with these batteries.

The power cable to the front dash cam runs through the side of the trunk door (Inside the place behind the thing holding the rear window).

So the source of this interference might be different things.

Next time I will be driving I will try to disconnect the whole setup from the power, and see if that helps.

Can cables or dash cams not in use (No electricity or similar in the cables) still cause interference?

Another thread in F30 indicated that mounting the dashcam to the rear glass caused problems with reception, and suggested mounting to the parcel shelf or to a bracket mounted into the headliner.
Try removing the camera from the mount and see if anything changes?

For now i am down to, that disconnecting the rear cam from the front cam still causes issues.

So its must either the Battery pack or the wiring for the front cam, that is causing issues.

I will do a staged check of stuff ones i have more time.

I came a little further in this adventure - and have now concluded the source of the radio signal noise is on the cable between my battery pack and fuse tap / ground.

Does anyone have any ideas on what in my install can cause the interference?

The cable shoe between the battery pack and fusetap has been replaced.

There was a few sparks on the ground - when I connected it, as I didn't disconnect the minus from the battery - but I guess that its fine, and either it has power or not?
