We did get some good rain later, but without a lot of drama. That's what we like here. Quote:
Other than sprinkles, in how many years that you know of has your area received any meaningful precip in July or August (I'm thinking, like, more than 0.1" or 0.2")?

The remnants of Tropical Storm Eugene are expected to push some rain our way, but to answer your question, not much rain comes this way in August. We'll take what we can get, though.

Do not. I repeat... DO NOT allow anyone to tell you we as a planet or society aren't experiencing significant and substantial GLOBAL WARMING. This is a very real and very deadly environmental crisis our planet is in. And unless you are an Alien, yes, it applies to You.

Just as we were about to go to dinner last night, it came down HARD. I'm pretty sure I counted at least 17 drops on the windshield when we got in the car.
Overnight, I'm not sure how I slept. I had to actually swipe the wipers once to clear the windshield. NOAA reported that FOUR places in Ventura County had measurable rain, up to 0.02"

I’m sitting in the car in my driveway waiting for it to let up a bit. It’s freakin pouring. The water is running down the sidewalk like a river.

So instead of the Great White North, we Yanks are going to have to start calling Canada the Great Rainy North.

Same here -- our perfect weather is turning hot for a few days -- it looks like triple digits for a few days.

Must be August, nailed in my right pinky by a yellow jacket, getting through a cycle of prednisone to reduce the swelling

My home weather station, which is generally accurate, says 105F.
The forecast is for hotter days tomorrow and the next day. Records are falling.

According to our (very accurate) news, July was our 9th straight month of below average temps. They followed that story up with a global-warming story about our unusually high temps.

Globally is it warming, locally it is climate change. Never had this much consistent rain in August in northeast KS - lawn looks like its April & mowing 2x/week whereas usually quite dry. Flip side, the KS aquifer is severely depleted so maybe this will help but disturbing that normal weather patterns are very disrupted now.

This is one of the main reasons I live in Chicago. The summers here are fabulous. And to me they make the winters worth it. Upper 70s today in Chicago. Having moved here from Texas (which I love!) I watch Texas temperatures and since my sister lives in Phoenix I watch their temps, too. Well over 100 in most of Texas today and even right this minute at 9:00 at night still above 100, with highs over 100 forecast for the next 10 days. Phoenix is the same, just add a few extra degrees. During July the low, overnight temperatures in Phoenix exceeded Chicago’s daytime highs virtually every day. One of my favorite things about Chicago is that as the month of August moves along you can watch the temperature start to decline day by day. In Texas and Arizona that doesn’t happen until the beginning of October.
