Most modern manuals are easy to drive; anything with computer controlled idle.
You get back to the carbureted manuals and then you have a challenge and they get fun/aggravating. Hill starts, nope. Gotta be a way to get there only taking rights and rolling through. LOL

Super light flywheel, can't creep. Stop and go; just pull off and wait it out. My old Focus had a 6# flywheel. Instant revs.

Heavy racing clutch. Every day is a leg day. Buddies dad had a '70 SS with a healthy 454 and 4 speed. I hated driving it. Clutch was soooo heavy. Really needed a bigger master/slave. The stock stuff just wasn't up to the task.

Haha man it's quite embarrassing, the other day I went to see a client in the Bronco and she lived up a proper steep hill. I told her to leave the gate open as there no way in hell I can make it by waiting in front of the gate, I had to get a running start from the bottom of the hill. I honestly died a little inside that day.

Loved a manual and still would want one in a toy but not a daily driver. My 1989 E30 M3 was awesome. My Supra
Turbo and 300zx both sticks not so much.

I’d like to have one for a weekend toy but never to daily drive on my commute in NY.

Garage List
Besides my first car, a 66 mustang with a c4 transmission because it was really the only solid choice, my next 3 were all manual.

I love driving stick, but after 9/11 it was taking upwards of an hour to get on base and my clutch leg would get so worn out it would start shaking. I decided that automatic is the way for a daily.

I own BMWs because I can get them in a proper manual. I just bought my first car with an automatic but that's how it came from the factory (1964.5 Ford Mustang Indy 500 Pace Car). I used to work in DC and had to drive in traffic for an hour every day (25 miles roughly) and it was fine. I'll buy a daily automatic when I go full electric but until then I'll happily drive a car with a built in anti-theft device.

I go back to driving stick with 'crash' boxes, (no synchromesh on any gears). Double clutching was the norm. The first sedan I drove was a 4-speed, with no synchromesh on first gear. Many UK vehicles were not easy to get a smooth 1st gear engagement, coming down through the box, (even with my experience with crash boxes). Many drivers hated them, and could never develop the skill to make a decent 2nd to 1st rolling change.

UK's original Mini was an example of poor shifting quality, horrid 'rubbery' thing plus a non-synchro 1st, making it even worse for many drivers.

MT with overdrive was one of my preferred setups, giving 6-speed on a 4-speed box.

MT can be so variable in setup. Not all positive... a good clutch action and a slick close gate shifter, don't always exist in the same vehicle.
