2013 535i with PS2 and other boltons. I had installed VRSF catless downpipe with M Performance exhausts. During cold weather drone was crazy at low RPMs. Hot days drone was not bad but on highway 60-80mph droning was getting annoying in normal mode and there was some droning in Sport mode as well. So for a while I debated to install back OEM mufflers but I liked M Performance sound. Most US high flow catted downpipe is $1K. So I ordered eBay 100 CPSI catted downpipe from RM Motors for $550 from Poland. Shipping was 2-3 weeks.

Drone is almost gone, car is much quieter at high speed and feel like I am driving mid luxury car again. I think if I had went with 200CPSI catted pipe, drone would have been completely gone. I am happy now with little to no drone.

I've noticed this one and contemplated it recently. Did you notice a drop in performance, going from no cat to catted?

EDIT: After reading reviews on other BMW forums (cell counts vs performance/hp gains), I think I might go for the 200 cell.

I think so but not much. I can't really feel the difference in power drop.

Yeah, after I posted, I did a lot of research and apparently the difference between cat and no-cat is negligible (5-10 hp).

Thanks. I'm gonna give it a go.

The boat need as many horses as it can get lol. I have come to a conclusion that if you want to avoid 550i problems than get 535i and put pure turbos. These cars too heavy and cant even get to m5 potential without meth.

Lol True about the horses, but not at the expense of drone (since I have an aftermarket exhaust) yeah, I won't be going the Pure Turbo route until my turbo dies.

As long as you get 5k oil changes the turbo would last forever.

When I got mine upgraded to stage 2 my orignal ones looked almost brand new.

Nice to see you're at 166k! I'm at 112k.

I'm going to try this $200 shipped catless downpipe that I scored, first. If I have rasp or if it's too loud, I'll try this RM catted one.

If you have stock mufflers, any catless downpipe will not drone.

I don't...I have a Megan Racing exhaust...lol. I almost feel like not even trying the catless and selling it.

EDIT: It's just a axle-back exhaust, so I still have the stock resonator, but I don't know how much that's going to shield me from drone.

I didn't buy it, I bought a used catless one of a different brand. If I have drone or issues, I'll buy the catted RM Motors one.

I just recently saw the RM catted downpipe on ebay and thought it was a pretty solid deal considering most are going for $900+, so i was wondering if you have any updates on this downpipe whether its still going smooth or how this downpipe from RM is holding up. Thanks

It is good quality, fitment is great. I have 100 cells downpipe. So I recommend 200 cells version. I still hear slight burbles and pops, which is good. Smell is gone. When I do oil change, I will take some pics.

With the 100 cpsi, how are the fumes while stopped/idle? Also, CEL and/or emissions? I'll end up with the 200cpsi version, but I'm curious about the 100cpsi version.

Looks like I'll be selling this catless one and going with this catted version...unfortunately, mainly due to wastegate rattle + hiding the fumes, as I can't afford a PS2 upgrade at the moment.

Fumes is less smelly. I went catted mainly to reduce drone instead of modifying exhaust any further. I have not tested cel light, I am in Arkansas so no emissions test.

Understood. As far as the CEL, I meant, are you getting a CEL?

Trying to see if I want to add a spacer on mine or not, when it gets installed.

curious as to why you went with a brand not too many of us know about vs going with ER, AR and Stone for about the same price?
