Anyone notice pretty bad wind whistling noises due to the M4 style mirror caps? When going around 70-80mph, it's pretty loud and noticeable.

If anything, for mine, it kills wind buffeting. So I can cruise with one window down and not get that annoying wind pressure issues.

I ended up taking mine off. The clear coat peeled terribly in a short period of time. With all the CV19 stuff going on, I didn't bother trying to get a replacement. I might just color match them to the car at this point. Sadly, this was in very nice Cali weather lol.

Not talking about wind buffeting. When going at higher speeds, you can kind of hear a whistling sound from the mirror area with the windows up.

I noticed it at 1st, so I sped up to 90 (my normal cruise) and it went away

Only downside is we had heavy rain/wind down here a couple weeks ago, and while my mirrors were folded up, something nailed my driver's side, and I have a nice crack along the top edge. I just bought a house, so priorities aren't on replacing it at the moment.

I'm thinking you'll want to keep water away from the interior mirror electronics.

Well, I definitely need to order a new set then. My pass. side is cracked along the top, the same as my driver's side. Jeez, these things only lasted just less than 4 months. I bought from the same eBay guy as @Unspec , so I hope he's not having issues.

UPDATE: Just looked and they're sold as-is, so no returns after damages/failure..ugh, at least they're only $99 and look great. Just too bad they don't last, but maybe I got a bad pair...?

The mirrors destroyed my marriage and resulted in the death of all my loved ones.

In all seriousness, I dropped mine on the concrete floor and they were just a bit scratched up. I'd say they're pretty solid. Sounds like you just got unlucky.

I think I bought those same ones, it’s either those or M5 carbon fiber, either way they didn’t last. Maybe 7 months and I have serious delam on the top, it turned to a nice dark grey. I just think of it as an accent to my Graphite 535d.

Does anyone know where the heck to find the cap in the lower half of the image? The one in the upper half is NOT the one in the lower half (deceptive marketing smh), and I really want to find the second one. I can find plenty for pre-LCI, but not a single one for LCI.

Or I might just be totally losing it and they're actually the same item.

I was mistaken it turns out. The upper and lower part of that image is the same product, it just looks really different when installed. I actually have both styles on hand. I prefer the first style, mostly because it hugs the original shape of the mirror cap better. The second, "updated" one looks a bit more... bulbous when viewed from the side.

The first style's main problem appears to be that the mold that makes the cap itself has a defect. The ones I originally received and posted about back on page 6 had the broken tabs, and all of the online photos on ebay and aliexpress all show the same broken tab, broken in the exact same way. I have no idea what the hell is going on with that, but given how the tabs appear broken in the same way, it's likely a damaged mold.

2nd one is definitely a more aggressive version and has more lines, but it also visually looks bulkier than the other. I'll post a few pictures tomorrow to illustrate this.

Anyone know if there is a aftermarket mirror cap for the blind spot/lane change warning mirror? Mine also had clear coat peel dont wanna reorder would rather have ones that clip it rather then the retrofit double sided tape method haha
