Any issues with installing 343M wheels on 535xi?

Hey guys, does anyone know if installing oem F10 343M wheels on an F10 M sport 535xi model would cause any issues with the transfer case, differential etc?

I would like to install them but wouldn't want to have any issues with the drive/handling.

As long as the rolling distance (diameter) of the wheels is the same front to rear you should be fine; square or staggered. Search around as this has been discussed and there is an allowable percentage difference; I just don't remember what it is.

Tire sizing matters more than the size of the wheel for the 1% transfer case tolerance. I have fit the M5 wheels on my 535xi just fine, 255/35/20 F and 295/30/20 R. No rubbing issues.

thanks for your input, I read that the rolling diameter cannot exceed 1 percent. I checked this staggered set up of F:245/35/20 and R:285/30/20 and seems to be less than 1 percent so hopefully it should be fine?

Thanks, how long have you had them on for? I was thinking of this set up that is less than 1 percent of the rolling diameter: F:245/35/20 R:285/30/20

I’ve been running 343’s as my summer set. 255/285, no issues since rolling diameter works

I used 2 pairs of M5 fronts with 255s all around so I can rotate them.

Oh really, interesting, I thought the tires had to be staggered since the front rim is 9x20 and rear 10x20? I didn't know you can go with a square set up all around?

It is a square setup. I am running 2 pairs of M5 fronts which is 4 20x9 wheels.

Since spring, so around March/April. 245/285 or 255/295 is what people generally run, depending on how you like the look of a 245 on a 9 inch wheel. The 295 definitely has a bit of poke in the back.

Rolling diameter is 1.1% different, that's a risky play esp with the rears being shorter than the fronts. Rears generally wear quicker, so that 1.1% will soon grow to more than that amount.

I’ve been thinking about changing the fronts to 245’s but as you mentioned above, it may be a little stretched out for my taste. 295 is way too much tire

As far as the rolling diameter, I keep an eye on tread wear in the rear. I run them 2 PSI over recommended. But even with slight wear how much is the rolling diameter changing? May be to 1.5%. Overall anything under 2% should be handled by the transfer case since bmw made xdrives with staggered set up...albeit not as agreesive of course

The stated tolerance is up to 1%. That's not really up for debate, BMW themselves have confirmed it. Their factory staggered set ups are within that 1%. It's completely up to you if you believe and adhere to their tolerances or not, it's your transfer case on the line, not mine so you do you.

Thank you all for the valuable info/feedback. I'm new to this forum but love the interaction, knowledge and the experience everyone brings to the forum.

I decided to go with 245/35/20 for the front and 285/30/20 for the rear. After further research and calculations, these sizes should keep me under the 1 percent rolling diameter allowance. I'm thinking of Michelin Sport tires, just undecided if i go with Summer or All Season? Living up north, all season would be a safer bet.

Once i figure out how to upload pics, i will share.

I just did this for my 14 LCI 535i Msport awd. Same tire setup (245/285) and I went with the non run flat pilot sport as3? I live in Boston so I'll need the all season even though I'll probably keep the car home and use the SUV more.

The handle is better (maybe it's just me) but I'll probably need to drop it a bit since the front has some wheel gap.

Thanks so much, car looks sick! I also have a 2014 m sport xi, exited to throw them on Wednesday. Your front looks good, I wouldn't drop it but then again dropping the car a tad does make it look more aggressive...I don't think I will though, living in NYC the potholes are ruthless.

I wanted to go with A/S tires but they didn't have them in stock so I went with the pilot summer. I will probably throw my stock 19's back on for the winter anyway.

Thanks man. The guy who put them on said the eibach pro kit drops it maybe about 1in and it's not too bad. I may ride on these for a bit but the car does feel a bit more planted.

Also, NYC kicks my ass with those potholes...stay safe and good luck with your install.

Just wait until you run into those big ass steel plates they have on FDR Dr at 90MPH. Not fucking fun.

I'd get the Michelin Pilot Sport AS4's if you can find them near you and in your size. They're the newest all seasons on the market from Michelin, and if they're good enough for the C8 they're good enough for the F10 lol

The main reason I have PS4S's on mine is I had a ton of life left in my AS3+'s on my stock 18's, so I decided to just run them as a dedicated winter wheel setup because why not. Here's mine freshly dropped on Silvers Neomaxx's

Oh my... no gap in the back and looks great in the front..... very nice man.

I got the AS3s for cheap so I may run them and then go for the as4s. Thanks for the heads up on those. I'll look into them.

I was able to put them, here are some pics. Will look into dropping my car next.

Only issue I have is when going over 60mph and I hit the brakes, my steering wheel begins to shake? Not sure what It may be, I replaced my rear rotors and all brakes about a year ago so I don't think it could be that, possibly my front rotors? Did anyone experience the same after putting them on?

After you put the wheels on, did you ever feel a vibration from the steering wheel when you applied the brakes at +60mph?
