last couple of days were pretty busy. started full 3 step paint correction and will finally get the Adam's ceramic coating done!

time to break out the detailing car!

CG's Maxi Suds along with CleanSlate to remove all the old sealants and waxes

if you're not using the 2 bucket method technique you should btw these 5 gallon dollies are freakin awesome rather than carring the buckets around

when it comes to wheels i never used a dedicated wheel cleaner until now. i usually just use the the Maxi Suds to clean the wheels. but i'm gonna start off with CG's wheel cleaner and if i like it maybe try something else afterwards. but for the most part i'm actually impressed with how wheel cleaners make cleaning much easier

clay bar time! i've tried them all so with experience i don't think it matters which brand is better as they all do the same function...remove contaminants

now with the car up in the air i did a last minute thing. 3 years ago i painted the barrels on my AG's black

this time i did them with a flake bronze. this is the same paint i used on the strut bar and cross bars

also before i started the paint correction i wanted to finally get the GFORCE IC installed! tho it looked nice as wall decor it was time for it to find it's new home!

now after reading the forums on the install and watching countless Youtube videos this was not complicated at all as some have stated. install was very easy and straight forward. this thing fit like a glove. not a whole lot of wiggle room if i may say. i did use my jack to help lift the IC into place which made things a lot easier. what a big difference in size

and nestled into her home BTW the plastic covers doesn't fit back into place from what other's have said

okay onto the paint correction. here's my weapon of choice...TORQ15DA! for products used CG's VLINE along with CG's Hexlogic pads orange and white my previous DA polisher was Harbor Freight which did the job but burned through pads

after 12 hours which in the detailing world is nothing i got the paint correction done. usually a full correction takes anywhere from 24hrs+ easily. thoughts on the TORQ15DA...works great! doesn't generate heat like my HF. ergonomically feels good in my hand. noise is very low and it's got a nice digital display.

so i'm drained! taking a day off but probably Monday i'll start applying Adam's Ceramic Coating

Did some maintenance this weekend. Plugs look good but I was getting a misfire on 1, hopefully the new coils fixed it. The oil cooler valve seems to be working, normally close to 250 degrees on the guage. I had to do oil change and brakes on my daughter's CRV so I ran out of time for the springs. Will have to do them next weekend.

How do you like the 255's. Do they cause any issues with the speedometer?

I like that they are slightly "beefier" and fill up the wheel well a little more. They make the speedo read closer but still slightly high.

Finally, after 3 years of ownership - I got to do all of the things I wanted on the car in the past month. All work and installation performed on my own and in my garage.
  • Installed KW V3s (hated handling of the car since day 1 - now it's amazing!!)
  • Installed front lip and rear diffuser - both I painted myself by learning with 2-stage paint and professional spray gun
  • Kept going back and forth on upgrading the stock 351m wheels but finally pulled the trigger when I saw the set of 20" I had to have on the car
  • Installed 6WB instrument cluster
  • Dinan exhaust was installed just 6 months ago - so relatively new

For reference, what the car looked like the day I bought it:

And what it looks like today:

Installed the lift in the garage, and ordered the Pure Stage 2 turbo for the 535i. Pretty expensive week, but should all be worth it

Istrubointeg,

What do you use to prep those barrels for paint. I need to respray my barrels. I had the wheels sandblasted and I sprayed the barrels afterward, but the finish is really rough and I think that will collect more brake dust. Did you sand your barrels before painting? I actually need to paint the inner barrels.

Envious of your lift! Do you have any info you could provide about it? Thanks!

Its a Twin Busch S3-19 Scissor lift. I wanted a lift that would be compact enough to fit in a double garage without taking up any space when not in use, which automatically took two post and four post lifts out of the equation. Max lift height is 73 in. with a capacity of 6600 lbs. The only limiting factor now is ceiling height, but I opted for the full height lift in case I move or decide to build a detached shop at some point. Overall very pleased with it, good build quality and positive reviews on the web.

is there plenty enough room to maneuver underneath? seems pretty narrow...or maybe its just me

i sanded them down for the new paint to adhere. when the barrels was black i had i believe 4 coats of clear. so i sanded it down just to rough it up a bit. pretty smooth if you ask me so i'm not sure why your barrels are rough? these are the same barrels HRE uses on their wheels so maybe the quality is the reason why...i dunno. it's all about the prep. i washed, decontaminated and clay bar. than after everything was painted and cleared i used the Adam's Ceramic coating. let me tell you, any brake dust build or even dirt on the inner barrels and face when i hit it with the pressure washer comes off really easy without even washing them yet
