IWC Pilot Spitfire Rose Gold
First IWC I've owned, got a good deal on it. So far I like it a lot.
Any of you own/owned IWC. Curious of your opinions on the brand. *lets try this again with pics loaded this time. Last edited by KMORGSM5; 01-18-2018 at 02:51 PM.. |

I'm a huge IWC fan - big time IWC fanatic - my claim to IWC fame is that I was fortunate to try on a Grand Complication at a IWC event.
Pilot series is a great line: the case, the hands. I think IWC is the greatest watch company. Past Portugiesers have been some of the best looking watches ever. Gold case, very smart. Be sure to subscribe to their newsletter. Which Spitfire model? I just looked and saw the current Spitfire lineup and only saw a Big Pilot in rose gold - but that's just too freakin nuts. 3878 03 chronograph ? just wild. like a lot of chronos this movement based on the 7750 - double check. But realize that IWC uses the base plates of the 7750 chrono for their Grand Complication.
Probably the case and the face are where it beats the competition. Read the manual on how to work the chronograph - you NEED to use the chronograph function, you need to press those pushers. Great thing about this chrono is it's ease of repair - and that is very important on a chrono - not trying to insinuate anything just that these watches get maintained in service and that they are meant to be used. Though I wouldn't change spark plugs wearing a watch like this and there is even debate about playing golf in such a fine watch, but watch winder or daily wear the watch needs to get moved. Like too see a side on view of the pushers and engraving on the back. Really hope you enjoy every moment of wearing this piece - a really great purchase. You know why the date window is designed as it is ? |

My Daytona is in for service right now. Compared to the Daytona and my Submariner i will say movement doesn't seem as good, but the watch is great for a dressier watch. I keep all my watched in watch winders. Not quite sure about the date window. I'll read up on it. Here are some pics, still have the plastic on the back. Took the sticker off and some more pics. Surprisingly not much info about the watch or movement from what i could find with a quick search.
Is there a good watch forum you would recommend? |

And apparently the reason why the second hand hacks and isn't as smooth as the Rolex " hacking seconds function harks back to an era when military use necessitated the synchronization of watches." |

Also do some research on when not to use the chrono - when date is about to change (not sure how many minutes on each side of 12:00am - its best not to use some of the chrono functions

Try it with black strap. Black and pink gold contrast is pretty surreal to look at.

https://www.watchtime.com/reference-...vibration-vph/ "Hacking" seconds refers to the second hand stopping when the stem is pulled out to the time-set position. Many mechanical movements don't have hacking seconds. |
