So I changed my cabin air filters... 2011 550i

Man, I don't think the dealership who sold me my car did anything to it upon receipt. I don't think these have ever been changed.

Btw, I would recommend never taking your business to Jet Auto Sales in Loganville, GA.

Pretty easy. Total 7 torx screws. Have to take down the airbag. About an hour total.

It's just a single plug. I never fully unplugged it. Only needed to unplug one connector to just move it out of the way.

They probably have been changed, genuine filters have a production date on them somewhere.

You just bought cheap ass non activated carbon replacements, that is why they are white....

I don't recall what was on the side of the ones that I pulled out. Those filters are the ones that were in it when I bought the car.

I'm trying to get rid of it anyway. I just bought something from ECS. Too much of a headache, and not enough time to deal with said headache b

Don't mess with the airbag plug, just work around it. I went in there and in the process of trying to get it out, broke some plastic piece which threw off a voltage reading which endlessly threw codes and brought up a warning on the display. Had to get the sensor repaired by my indie. Luckily he's an honest guy and only charged me 1.5 hr diagnosis & repair.

I noticed that, too. Regarding the leaves, BMWs seem prone to getting them in the A/C. My F30 had a bunch of crap in there when I changed them and I live in the desert.

As for the dealerships, I'm thinking they do less and less on used cars. Had a Jaguar dealer try to sell me a XJ with divots in the rims as a CPO. Errm, Grumpy Cat says NO! Some of the cars at the local Carmax look great, whilst others are filthy inside. I can only assume the clean ones came from careful owners.

That gray color is how the BMW ones look when new, from the carbon, so they may have been changed properly.

Recently did mine too. This is a great video on it:

Is this the same (video) procedure for a 2016 LCI 550i? Looks to be a bigger PITA than my G37s where I had to pull the entire glove box to get to it....

I change mine once a year or so. Pretty easy to do and not worth paying the ridiculous amount of $$$ dealer charges.

What does dealer charge? I obviously didn't get OEM filters, which are $40-50 a piece I think?

I was quoted $250 recently from my BMW dealer, installed. I think the filters alone they wanted like $125 for. I got the genuine BMW ones from this BMW dealer on Amazon for $85: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Ridiculous. I did these and it took me a little less than an hour, and this was my first time. Someone who's done it often would be able to do it quicker.

I got mine from this place on amazon for $50 a pack and it takes me about 20 mins to change them.....dealer wanted $280

OEM is made by Mahle so why not directly go to the source and cut Bmw out of the way.

MAHLE Original LAK 467/S Cabin Air Filter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0068N0SHI..._KzLZCb415YJVY
