First M Car Purchase

Hello all. This would be my first post as I'm a new member (thanks for having me). I'm in the market for a 2021/2022 M3 as a new daily driver, retiring my trusty 2008 FJ Cruiser which has been all but bulletproof. I've decided it's time to have something more fun and engaging in my daily life (life is short) and without a proper terrain nearby, the FJ just doesn't scratch any other itch any longer.

As stated, I'm looking for a 21 or 22 MY M3 and have been doing some research over the last few weeks trying to understand what options I should be on the lookout for as 'essential'. Many of the cars I see out there have at least the Executive Package and/or the Parking Assist Pkg. (of which I have zero desire for). It seems to me that these models are the more pedestrian variants or quick order cars that dealers with allocations ordered to appease the masses.

I imagine most of you reading this are not the usual owners but rather spec'd yours as an enthusiast would. Are there options that are a must-have in your view? Although this is subjective, did any of you regret any part of your build? Your feedback is much appreciated!

You would get a better answer in the G80 forum, Maybe the moderator will move your post for you.

Unless you are a serial car flipper and going to sell it in 18 months no matter what, I don't see the point in buying anything other than a fully customized M car exactly how you want it. It will take a few months but you'll get exactly what you want including the correct number of pedals.

For me, I wanted heated seats front and rear, top level stereo and rear sun shade. So the Executive Package on a g30 was the sweet spot for those options. I also would not buy any BMW without m-sport and shadowline trim, though you don't have to think about that if you're shopping for an M car.

Use the BMW configurator to determine how you want one set up. Then, the web site will do a national search for an existing car sitting on a dealer lot that comes close to your spec. Or give you a code you can use to place an order. Or at least you'll know what options are important if you want to go used or CPO.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll post this in the G80 forum unless the moderator could easily move it.
