Typically, though you get what you pay for. Why are you trying to make your car something it's not?

not sure what wdimagineer is getting at but nothing wrong with adding an M kit on your car. The majority of us all have it. On my E60 I had a NON OEM bumper and it was fantastic plus much cheaper. I got mine from Trinity Autosport. It's an easy deal and if you don't want to spend a ton look into a regular after market kit. But you should get the whole set to do it right. At the least a front bumper and side skirts.

The M5 front bumper belongs on the M5. The M Sport bumper is an accessory that BMW sells and will fit on any *other* version of the F10 5 Series. The M5 bumper requires the M5 fenders and some minor modifications under the hood. BMW should have made it a little more difficult to retrofit on the regular F10. Maybe next time...

http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=704796 IE92 converted his car to an M5. wdimagineer "somewhat" has a point, what's the point of converting a non-M5 to an M5 look-alike? If you don't have sponsors, it can be cost prohibited. After you factor in parts, labor, and time you might was well buy a real M5. Last edited by JNoSol; 10-29-2012 at 10:21 PM.. |

Lol someone seems to be a tittle touché about the subject. Who cares man , it's your car your money. No one said your gonna put a m5 badge on there. Don't get why certain people care. I say go for it. It's a good look and you'll like it. You shouldn't care what other people think. Life's to short for that bullshit

This ticks me off no matter what brand or car. People debadging a car to "hide" what it is because they couldn't afford the better/faster model? Stupid. People re-badging a car to make it something it isn't? Also stupid. There was an F10 528 parked in front of my condo the other night, missing badging on the rear. I was walking my dogs when the driver came back to the car. I asked him (somewhat jokingly) if he did it for the look or to disguise the fact that it's a 528. He told me to fuck off, which pretty much confirms my points above. Whether or not the OP applies M5 badges or not is irrelevant. The M5 has a unique look from the front and sides that is for the most part instantly recognizable as being such.

If that wasn't his reaction I'd know he did it for the looks and not to hide what his car really is. So again, it just proves my point and why it irks me so much.

To the OP, the original m5 bumper will not fit right off the box, the m5 bumpers are wider. It can be done.
Your choice then is to 1. replace front fender with m5 fenders. 2. Find a shop that can modify the oe m5 bumper to make it work with your fenders. 3. Buy aftermarket m5 bumpers made for standard f10. Its your car, do what makes you happy. You may get flamed but so what. Just dont park in front of wdimagineers condo he'll call you out. |

Your approach isn't making it look like an M5. It's just mixing and matching pieces. Adding the M5 exterior elements IS making it look like an M5, when it's not. I'm just not big on deception, that's all. I've seen too many cars I've been excited about only to be let down because they're not real.

BMW has a no cost badge delete option when you order your car. I suggest you take your concerns regarding debadging up with BMW HQ in Munich. I'm sure they will take your views into consideration. If you are so concerned about getting other 5-series confused with your "real" 5-series, I suggest you order a really unique car the next time (like an Aston Martin or similar). Then you won't have to deal with all the owners of the lesser versions of your car. And for someone so against putting M5 exterior stuff on a regular F10. How do you explain this (for anyone driving behind a car with a M5 diffuser it will look like a M5...): Last edited by Boss330; 10-30-2012 at 06:34 AM.. |

This is like a guy owning a Rolex complaining about a guy with an imitation. Can't help but wonder about priorities here. Did you get the M5 because you wanted something no one else had or because you love the M5 and it's performance? If you are looking for elitism then perhaps, like another poster suggested, save up a little more and get something that can not be so easily replicated. Enjoy your ride and let others enjoy theirs. As a BMW owner I come across so few that have even the SLIGHTEST of mods. I highly doubt that the OP is part of a percentage that will effect the value or integrity of your investment.

To the OP , do what you want to do . It's like a little peer pressure from someone that doesn't matter. You shouldn't chang your mind because someone doesn't like it. Life's to short. Now I can get back to sema

This thread is getting interesting.
wdimagineer: Calm down bro. There are a lot of reasons why one would put M5 equipment on a lower model. Not all of them want people to be confused with the real thing, some of them yes (pathetic, agreed). If you're a true BMW fan and you can't tell the difference, you don't deserve to call yourself a BMW fan. As long as they don't mount the M5 badge on a non-M5, they're still nice cars on my book. Some members just wanted the M5 bbk, but turns out M5 bbk require wider fenders for the extra wheel clearance. Wider fenders = M5 bumper required. What seems like a savings from the Brembo BBK ($2k vs $6k), became just as costly. But very nicely executed. I do see your point if people are intentionally making their car a fake M5. It does make me sick that there are more fake Chevelle SS than real ones on the road, or more Chelby Cobra kit cars than the real ones. It is unfair for the real Shelby Cobra owners who paid $500k+, for other people to assume it's another kit car. For the rest, they just want to make their car unique without using cheesy fibre glass body kits. IMO, OEM M5 bumpers are much classier than throwing in non-OEM body kits. |

As you bought a M5 diffuser for your 550i, how would you react if someone came up and asked you if you tried it on only to make your 550i look like an M5? Isn't it double standards from you to come here and bash people for putting M5 exterior parts on their cars when you have done/tried the same on your previous car? |

What a find.
Wdimagineer, this is not your first post where you complain about this subject. Not many people install M5 parts, why do you react like that? This is such a minor thing, you should just enjoy your car! People who know about BMWs, will recognize your car and that you paid 110k for that. Don't worry!
