Auto Start stop acting weird

Just bought a used F10 2011. Whenever I stop at the signal, the Auto start stop kicks in, car shuts down for 5 seconds, then starts again (while my foot is still on the brake) and Parking brake is engaged.

Anyone faced a similar issue or any suggestions what could be wrong? Definitely does not seem normal behaviour.

Too many variables. The A/S/S function depends on electrical load, engine temp... stuff like that.

It also monitors battery charge state and restarts if it senses voltage dropping too low. With 2011 it might be the time for a new one. Any other unexplained electrical gremlins that you noticed recently?

Why not turn it off for a few drives and allow the battery to have a larger charge and try again

As others have said too many variables, could be low charge, trilling to maintain cabin temperature

Doesn't sound like an issue to me

I would turn it off. it saves a minuscule amount of fuel and wears out the starter prematurely. I have a neighbor that used to work for the post office maintenance department. I asked him about the start/stop strain on the starter. He told me the PO goes through starter motors like they're candy. That alone convinced be to keep the A/S/S off.

USPS has auto start stop in those ancient Grummans?

I know that on our cars, we have a significantly beefier starter that's designed to stand up to the ASS

Edit: No, that was not intended, but I'm leaving it that way.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. As I recently bought the car, not sure whats the battery condition. Will check and try replacing and report back.

I have not kept it turned off for few drives. I turned A/S/S off, drove 30 kms, turned it back again and saw the same behaviour. Will keep it off for a couple of days and see if the behaviour changes.

No, but they actively turn the engine off and back on at every mailbox cluster.

Could be that and/or security. Our maillady got robbed at knife-point a couple months ago. She's alright and they did catch the guy.

I've only seen the Amazon delivery guys leave the engine idling. I can't believe one hasn't been stolen yet.
