[F10] LCI. RDC Failure (solved)

Hello.

BMW F10 2015.

Tire pressure sensors stopped working overnight. Errors that pop up:

D018E8 - ICM receiver, RDC transmitter
S 0296 - Unable to communicate with: tire pressure check.

I thought it might be the receiver inside the bumper. But after disconnecting it, a new bug appears, so it is rather functional:

E114A0 - KOMBI receiver, RCD transmitter.

Fuse No. 139 in the trunk is also functional.

I would like to add that when I bought the car, some animal chewed the cables from the oil temperature sensor and oil level. Maybe she bit more?

One quick check would be to take it to a tire shop and have them just detect the TPMS sensors in the tires. If one is having difficulty responding, could be the battery is going out..

Otherwise, yes, could be a communication issue if the rodent chewed up wires down there.

All sensors are not working. Not only one. In idrive it shows rdc failure message. I can reset, but that doesn't change anything.

The sensors are new. Replacements from aliexpress. But they worked fine for two weeks

When one sensor is not detected, it will shut down the whole system. If you have ISTA or BimmerLink it will tell you which one is not recognized. Tire shop like discount tire can also see which sensor is not working pretty quickly

Really??

I thought that if one is damaged, it will just be information about this one. Not that they will all disappear: /

I have ISTA. But I don't know how to specifically check which sensor is not working. I read the errors and posted them here.

Could you please tell me how to check it?

I don't know why BMW does that but I've experienced it several times. If I put in a spare wheel or one sensor is bad, it just cripple the whole system. It won't tell you which one is still good in the idrive. It's a pretty annoying problem.

You mentioned rodents chewing up wires. If all sensors are good then there may be one or more damaged wire from the receiver to the module behind the rear bumper.

I was just in the tire shop. They checked all the sensors for me and found them working.

I connected the RDC receiver from the bumper before checking in the tire shop and the E114A0 error disappeared. Only two errors D018E8 and S 0296 remain.

I don't know if I handle ISTa well, but the control plan suggests replacing the RDC receiver from the bumper. Which is rather strange since disconnecting it causes an error. So it is rather operational.

Sounds like that module may be failing but not completely. I recommend getting one from FCP and try it out. If it doesn't fix your issue, you can return without hassle.

Problem solved.

It was the receiver in bumper. My friend cut opened it. There was water inside. He fixed it for me. He also sealed the Electronic board with liquid foil to prevent it from happening again. And now everything works perfect 😎

Would you mind telling us what he did to fix it? Did he just dry it out and re-seal it, or did he have to repair it first?

He is an electronics engineer. He cleaned the module. He soldered something, but I don't know the details. Finally, he flooded the module from the inside with liquid foil. And he glued the whole thing together.
