Hi guys!

My trusted daily / family wagon has finally given out. At 338k km my N47 engine spun a rod bearing.

Since these 525D F1x cars have the most powerful 218 hp N47D20D engine version, I was wondering if other N47 version shortblocks could be used / swapped?

The problem is that it is extremely hard to find a good donor N47D20D engine, but there are plenty of N47D20C ones out there.

Some salvage part shops have told me that I can use N47D20C instead if I swap everything over from my old ''D'' engine, but when checking RealOEM I see that the part numbers for blocks, pistons and other components are different.

Does anyone have some useful info or experience about this?

Anyone know if it's okey to use N47D20C shortblock with all of the auxiliaries and everything else swaped over from N47D20D engine?

Looking from bmw etk, block is same on 520d and 525d, so should be ok to use.
