Does anybody know how water could get into the trunk? I used to have a really big puddle in the storage area on the right side. The deep one bellow the fuse box.

After replacing the plastic "gutter" that runs over the lights and the matching grommet last year it looked like it was all gone. No such luck for me as I was greeted by a small iced over puddle in the same area this morning. It's really starting to do my head in...

Hope solmbody can point me in the right direction.

One such possible candidate would be the top of the rear trunk Drip Rail Trim mount, PN: 51497453356 on the right side...which isn't the item that is the cause of the leak, but it's the item that the trim snaps into at the top...a 79 cent item, PN: 51717154239, that is mounted in a hole in the trunk's rain gutter (e.g. drip rail)....that can either get a hole in it, or the edge of it may break off, OR the foam gasket underneath the plastic head, falls apart... but all will support water ingress into the trunk right by the fuse box on the right, or on your Amp on the left.....and for 79 cents, you can fix this....

You will need to pop off the top of the trim to inspect the plastic grommet....

....another note to add...

Water can run under the trip...but shouldn't pool at the top of the trim where the white grommet is located, unless enough debris has collected under the trim, so that it does not allow water to drain....with a pool a water under the trip at the top, over time, it may "slowly" seep into the trunk at the white grommet location...even if the white grommet is intact.

You can verify if this is the location, if your remove the trunk liner in the location of the white grommet....

Those are the parts I changed last year including that plastic bit with the grommet which was the actual issue last time.
I'll re-check them when it gets a bit warmer outside. If it is leaking again it is getting the excessive sealant treatment :-)

So another candidate is the rear water drain pipe for the sunroof...(P/N 54107076744)

Water drain hoses are bent/trapped in the back
Repair instructions for rear water drain hoses

Fault cause:

Water backdraft due to a bent or trapped water drain hose in the back.
This may cause water penetration in the rear area, stains on the roof liner in the area of the C-pillar or control unit malfunctions.

Carry out following check:

1. Preliminary work

Remove the left D-pillar trim panel, see repair instructions

Open the flap in luggage compartment panel on the right

2. Check

Check the water drain hose for installation without kinks on the left

Check the water drain hose on the right for correct installation at the power distribution box

Note: Bubble 1 in figure below is kinked hose, where Bubble 2 shows proper installation

I had the same issue with my F11. It appeared the isolation inside the door came loose en clogged the drainage. The solution was to re-glue the isolation. No problem whatsoever after that.

Same issue, the right hand storage bin full of water in the boot. Thought was rain at first coming in off the boot lid but I don't think it is this. Anyone managed to solve?

Same issue here, specially when I wash the car, not as much with rain.

I know this is a fairly old post but I have found this issue today. On checking the fuse for my air suspension compressor I noticed the storage bin with about an inch of water in it. I also discovered water in the well where the battery is located. This turned out to be the reason the compressor wasn’t working as the relay for it had gotten wet. Can’t work out where the water got in.

Any ideas?

The above mentioned problems can cause it, but also in many cars (not just a F10 problem) water can get in via the rear brake light seals. So check those as well as the drains.

I have had this problem in trunk,not much water, but it was present from time to timein that black plastic tray.. that white plastic piece was the issue, but fast forward a few years and I got that water issue in the front and rear footwells the other day, sunroof drains clear, vapor barriors on doors are good too... any ideas??
