Valve Cover & Gasket refresh, replacement part experiences?
I see there is a sponsored valve cover DIY video on the board, but curious to learn more on product selection among those who have replaced their leaky Vcover & gasket?
- OE, reputable aftermarket straight-up china/Ebay knockoffs & your opinion of seal/quality/longevity?? I am currently waiting on a Febi Bilstien cover & gasket kit for a DIY this weekend. think I am comfortable taking the chance on not choosing the expensive OE or mahle (who made my OE part) on the cover, but still curious on other's experiences..? This is for an N55 in my '11 F10 Last edited by Sailor535; 02-26-2020 at 11:12 AM.. |

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...04-cto-440533p If you have to replace the whole valve cover $232 https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...ng-11127570292 These companies make the gaskets for BMW so you can trust their brand. |

You all should look at some of the aluminum covers that are being made for the n55 now.
You should definitely replace the valve cover when you do this job. Otherwise you may find yourself doing the job again just to replace a squealing broken pcv breather. The aluminum cover would be tempting for this reason. Easy to replace that part now without having to replace or even remove the cover. The rest of the valve cover will finally be reusable. With the aluminum cover, you can likely use sealant and possibly avoid leaks |

Just finished a valve cover job on f10 N52 engine straight 6.
The job was much easier than most other f10 engines. I did not have to take the fuel rail. Also I ordered 2 other gaskets- 1 for valvtronic motor and the other in the front. Replacing the CCV valve was not too bad.. heat gun helps with taking off the old one. You don't have to buy the whole Valve cover.. Costs- Canadian - roughly $100 for gaskets and CCV valve vs 250? or so for the whole valve cover with all the seals. Just me 2c. Desmond. |

I found two websites that carry N55 Aluminum Valve covers. ECS Tuning shows the company that makes the N55 Valve cover is from Bremmen, I found another website that carries one as well, here are the links,
