wheel fitting question
Hi Folks,
Just picked up a 2015 535i and am looking to get rid of the stock chrome rim. I have a set of theses https://trafficjamsmotorsports.com/beyern-spartan-20x10-0-5-120-et25-cb74-1-matte-black 20x 9 et 33 and 20x 10 et25. Was looking to getting 255/45/20 fronts and 275/40/20 rear. Currently running stock springs. Please let me know if this is doable or not. |

I don't think you can fit a 255/45/20 front. I can only fit a 245/40/20 right now with maybe a half inch of clearance from the wheel carrier knuckle, and so I doubt you can fit an additional 2.3 inches. That said, 20x9 ET33 is fine.
20x10 ET25 will poke by a lot, as 20x10 ET35 is already roughly flush with the rear fender

People with 343m 20x10 34mm wheels run a 285 tire normally as a 295 will rub.
275 on a 25mm is 1mm further in than a 295 on a 34mm, so I think the rear might rub. A 265 should be OK though

So if I want to use the 20x10 et 25, I can go as wide as 265? As for the front, I guess I’ll have to go with 245/40 or 245/35 then. How is the ride quality on 35 sidewalls?

10,5" et35. 275 tire. Tire still has some room, but better safe than sorry. I ran et30 last summer with little more camber. But et25 gonna be tight... With stock spring probably fine. Last edited by zener; 04-22-2023 at 07:54 AM.. |

If you're on stock suspension, 295's will probably not rub. I still wouldn't run 20x10 ET25 though, too much poke.

There has not been much discussion on your proposed tire size ratios. They are two sizes larger than a stock setting, so you would definitely have a much larger tire diameter than stock. As Unspec said, this will likely cause the front tire to rub on the knuckle of the suspension. Even if it doesn't, you might have issues clearing the fender when you do a tight turn. I have not heard of anyone going two sizes larger than stock. I did one size larger without too much issues, but indeed the clearance with the front knuckle, even then, was paper thin. That was also a function of the wheel offset at that time. I understand you want to minimize rough handling and bumps by going with a larger diameter tire, but in that case, it might make more sense to go with a 19" wheel vice 20", and then go one size up from stock for your tires. Just my two cents worth.

To be on the safe side, I ordered 245/35/20 for the fronts and 275/30/20 for rears. Ordered some Nitto 555 and should be here Monday. Will see how it turns out.

Just got it installed today. Got some gap in the front about 3 fingers and a little less in the rear. It didn’t poke out as much as I was afraid of. Looks good.

The car might settle a little bit lower on the springs after driving for a bit - it looks good!
