Service Records?

Does anyone know of a way to get service records for a CPO car? I recently purchased a used 550xi, and see that it was previously certified by BMW. However, Carfax does not indicate any service records. I'm trying to ensure that I do all the service that may have not been performed, including the CCP.

I called the local dealership and they said that I would have to contact the original owner (who I don't know) to obtain their approval for them to release the records.

Year of the car? Where did you purchase it? The CCP only applies to the N63 engine. From what I understand, your dealer is correct; HOWEVER, there is no reason they can't tell you what's been done. Ask for specifics like oil change interval, major repairs, things like that. Carfax can only report what's been reported to them.

Though it is true a decent CA will black out the personal info and give you a copy.

^^^ ditto wcr3d. If you can win your SA over. (appeal to their sense of goodwill)...let them know that you know that the previous owners information is listed with the service history but that you have no desire for their personal information...you're just interested in the car's service history. So ask them if they can redact the original owners info (their name and address is usually listed on the service history document). All you want is to have a good understanding of where the car has been serviced and what was serviced etc.

Good luck.

Do you guys know if any BMW dealership can see the service history, if the maintenance was performed at a BMW dealership? I'm pretty sure I'd have a good chance with my local SA. This car was on the east coast most of it's life, and I contacted the dealership listed on the Carfax. I bought it in the Chicago area. It is an N63 (2013 550i)

The original dealer gave me the service history after I called BMWNA to update to information to mine.

Ditto wcr3d (again )...yes as long as the dealership entered the info into the BMW database...it should appear on the service record under "center ID". And I can't think of a reason that a BMW dealership wouldn't enter any work they did into the database...especially if the car was under warranty.

Your SA has access to the info.
Most understand why you want it, talk to him/her.
Sorry for the short answer before, limited on time.
QSilver7 always does well filling the gaps, thank you. :-)
