F11 6NK + snap-in adapter

Hi all,

I have a 2013 F11 with the following:
  • S609A Navigation system Professional
  • S698A Area-Code 2 for DVD
  • S6AAA BMW TeleServices
  • S6ABA Control for Teleservices
  • S6NKA Link for Bluetooth and USB device

Recently a iPhone 5 snap-in adapter landed in my hands and as I had an older iPhone 5 laying around I have decided to try use it as a mediaplayer / hotspot through the snapin adapter.

To my surprise, inserting the snap-in adapter did absolutely nothing, I cannot see it in the 'External devices' menu - just like it would be the basic snap-in (only charge and antenna). I have checked the model number - 84212289718 - and is the Connect model that should also have USB media.

Do I need to code something? Tried coding 6NS however the snap-in still not in the 'External devices' menu and more to it I have lost the BT audio option (only calls and data).

PS. I have an NBT unit and no combox

I could be wrong (just ask my wife!), but I believe that could very well be your problem.

Haha, you just might, but what is the point of adding the snapin plate - just for charging and aerial? Pretty useless imho

Add 6NF to FA and VO Code NBT.

Hi Shawn, thx for your answer, I have added 6NF to FA and VO coded NBT and I can now see the snapin symbol in the 'external devices' menu .

However when I attach the snapin and the phone, nothing happens.

Do I need to do some extra coding? I noticed that even attaching the iphone to the central console USB port via cable, I still cannot see it in the devices list. On BT all works fine.

I have attached the snapin and the phone to a LCI F10 and it got immediately detected and working

Thanks again.

I am not sure what you have. You should have a base plate and a Snap In Adapter.

Make sure to FDL Code these:

HU_NBT => API_IPOD_VIDEO = both
HU_NBT => API_USB_VIDEO = both

If you are looking for the "Plugin" function, BMW AG killed it off long time ago when Lightning Connector was introduced as it is all Digital with no analog out.

I have the plate and the iphone snap in adapter. I am looking to play the iphone audio library over the snap in connector and not via BT.

Will try coding what you have suggested and report back

Thanks.

I don't remember where I had to code (KOMBI maybe?? Shawn??), but I had to change "analog" to "digital" when I got my first adapter for our 2012 535i. It responded just as you described until I made that change.

I'll do some digging and see what I can find...

Yes, these should be set to Digital or better Auto:

HU_NBT => USB1_IPOD_AUDIO = AUTO
HU_NBT => USB2_IPOD_AUDIO = AUTO

I don't know the module, but try this:

From:
USB2_IPOD_AUDIO
analog

To:
USB2_IPOD_AUDIO
digital

https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=883763

EDIT

Try this:

Under HU_NBT (ECU)

You need to read the Code and FDL code this entry.

HU_CIC/HU_NBT

3003 TELEFON_TELEMATIK_ONLINE
USB2_IPOD_AUDIO - DIGITAL/ANALOG/AUTO

I have tried this on my NBT and it works.

I have coded this:

HU_NBT => API_IPOD_VIDEO = both
HU_NBT => API_USB_VIDEO = both

While it fixed the cable connection to the armrest usb and the iphone is now seen as USB device, I still have no connection via the snap-in.

I can see the following now:

USB1_IPOD_AUDIO digital
USB2_IPOD_AUDIO auto

I will try changing USB2 to digital, maybe that will solve the issue.

Not sure if the following are related:

API_APPLE_AUTH_CHIP_ON_OFF: aktiv
API_IPOD_2WIRE_ON_OFF: nicht_aktiv
APPLE_ENHANCEMENTS: nicht_aktiv

Coded both USB1_IPOD_AUDIO and USB2_IPOD_AUDIO to digital - still no luck.

Coded APPLE_ENHANCEMENTS to aktiv - no effect whatsoever - reverted

Coded API_APPLE_AUTH_CHIP_ON_OFF to nicht_aktiv - lost cable connectivity also - reverted

Did not try API_IPOD_2WIRE_ON_OFF - does anybady know what that does?
