H&R Springs Installed
Guys,
Very excited. Just got my H&R Sport Springs installed. Though not fully settled yet. Looks terrific, not more SUV feel. Did a little spirited drive on my way back home from Kwun Tong. Much more planted on the road. No more floating around during cornering. My car still has not break-in yet so did not rev up too much. An old Merc. S320 or something tried to toy with me before entering the Eastern Harbor Tunnel. I let him eat dirt when exiting the tunnel. Did a 90km turn at the exit towards North Point, I don't think I can see him in my real mirror. My baby drives more like my old E46 now in terms of cornering. Hehe. Will do more testing later on Repulse Bay Road, see if my wife still wants to puke.

Guys, thanks but I am in total shock now. On my way home last night I heard strange noise, sort of rattle coming from the front left corner. When I turn my steering wheel all the way to back my car to my car park space, I heard a huge noise from the that corner. Then I found the sway bar end link (front swing support) on the ground.
I inspected the car this morning under sun light, I found that the mod shop has not properly fixed the end link. This is totally insane. How could a professional mechanic made such a mistake. Springs swapping is not any complicated job and such mistake is absolutely unaccpetable. It was Sunday so I have no way to contact the shop. I was so upset last night that I could hardly sleep. Searching the web to see whether I could drive without one of the end links for my short trip back to the shop. Anyway I need to drive slowly without any hard turnings tomorrow back to the shop. I will definitely give them a major compliant, man. See what they have to see and what they will do for me. This is just crazy.

RC3,
Oww.. i was going to ask you how the install went, as I am quite scared of these things.. how ppl can be careless so often. You mean the sway link.. a little (~1foot) metal bar that attaches the sway bar to the shock? Ouch, that is totally negligent .. the install better had been for free or something! Just tape the loose part to something fixed, make sure it doesnt hit anything or swing around when you turn the wheel, it should be ok to drive to the shop, you just lose sway bar connection, meaning you have alot more body roll, the sway bar is not connection the two opposite shocks, but its perfectly safe to drive.. just dont 'throw corner' Unlucky man, but its no lasting damage .. maybe the screw was loosely put on if you didnt get the noise immediately it took some driving around to loose off.. No biggie, get it fixed and move on to happier things |

Sorry Kev,
See from photo, end link just came off. View from wheel well, end link has not been installed properly. I suspect they only connected the bottom and forgot the top. The hex nut is still with the link bar.

yeah, kev and grimmy. Absolutely insane for those guys. This shop was recommended by one of the E90 forum members and the shop looks quite professional. I will never go there again after this.

Is that paint scratched off the black sway bar? Dude, you took the end link off yourself? Now you can be your own mechanic! |

No that's not paint but the rubber cushion. End link came off and felt on the ground, bro. I'm not a mechanical guy, didn't know what it is. Searched the web and realoem and just learnt this part. I suspect those guys just connected the bottom without connecting the top. The hex nut is still with the bar. When I turned the steering the bar crashed the fender or something and came off. CRAZY.

Update: sway bar end link fixed. Had the car lifted up and checked. Those guys really forgot to fix the connection at the sway bar side. Totally insane. Luckily nothing is damaged. Took about an hour for them to fix the rubber cushion which fell apart with no damage.
Couldn't really asked them for any compensation. They gave me a golf umbrella but who cares. Also offered me discount for future jobs, but will I go back again? very doubtful. Anyway everything is fine now. Will test it out more later. And sorry guys, photos need to wait. Can't really spare time weekdays and car sort of dirty now after the horrific weather in HK, need to do a good wash for the shooting.
