Hi, I am new to this F10 5 forum. I am looking forward to getting a F10 soon!
I am looking for a F10 535xi. My local dealer offered 6k off from MSRP ($59,325). This one includes cold weather package, premium package 1 & 2, leather upholstery, & navigation. The dealer told me it is a demo car. 6k includes navigation option credit. It's very hard to determine a fair price, since it has 4k miles on it. If it were a new car, then I would have easily used information available on edmunds.com and truecar.con... 1. Can it be regarded as a good deal? (actually, I don't think so at all already...) 2. What would be a good price? How much to get off from a 0 miles new car price, because of the 4k miles? 3. Is it a good idea to buy a demo car? You know how people drive demo cars, in general... Thank you in advance, guys. SK. Last edited by gestalt77; 06-24-2011 at 06:37 PM.. Reason: error.. |

I bought my F10 new, but I bought all my previous MB's as demo's (E550, ML350, and S550) and never had a problem. They were distributed among other family members at this point and all are still going strong with no out of the ordinary issues. I wouldn't worry about the 4k, miles.
As for the price.... people are getting them for around 8-ish% off, so you save another 2% for those 4k miles. If the car is setup the way you want I would say it's not a bad trade at all. My problem was that I wanted a bunch of stuff no one else did (M sport in DG with cinnamon leather specifically). So really if you're happy with the spec, you could try to haggle a bit more, but I'd probably pull the trigger on it if our positions were swapped. |

well Truecar has you at $4900 off MSPR for 0 miles. Now 4 k miles is 1/3 of 12k per year. 535xi depreciates 42% in 3yrs. 14% in 1 yr.
1/3 of 14% is 4.666% so $59,325 - $4900 = $54,425 $54,425 x 4.666% =$2,539 (mileage depreciation) $4,900 (truecar) $2,539 (depreciation) ----------- $7,439 This is what you should get off MSRP

I think that if you use a formula like that, you would assume that your first year depreciation would be higher than your last two (i.e. depreciation rate isn't linear). So really it's not 14 for the first year but maybe 16 or 17 and the subsequent years are consequently lower) and maybe argue for even more off than what MEJOR said.
But I still think it's a good deal in either case. |
