first service at 6400 miles?
my 328 says it needs service in 2200 miles (im currently at 6400), and I got an email saying I should setup a service for this month. I wont likely go over 7000 miles this month. will they do the service (oil change)?

For MY14 they go by 10K miles or 1 year from build date (not in use date).

I saw that in the post, but it's saying 2200 miles and to do the service this month. that would put me at 8800 miles, but I wont be at that mileage for maybe 3 months.

I'm at 5600km and it's asking to service for oil in 1200km but says its overdue as of July. It's seems to be going off of the build date, not sure but dealer says they'll reset the alert.

I took it in today and they are doing the oil change, no questions asked.
the Service advisor said when the vehicle calls for it, they do it. that being said, they will not change wiper blades until 1 year! Having a few little things checked, and they are doing a few updates, not sure what though. also replacing a grommet for the AC system.

the email system has no idea how much mileage you have on the car. its more time driven.....so more than likely you've had the car for about a year....so its a friendly reminder that its time to bring in the car

Not all has telematics , so it's not. It's either time-base or mileage, which ever comes first. My dealership changes my oil yearly, even though my service interval is 15k miles. They already change it twice and I'm just about to hit 15k in a few weeks.

Nick: Just curious, what is BMW's oil service interval in the UK/Europe?

It depends on the type of driving you do. Mine is long distance so my car is an example of one of the longest stretches between services.. If you are doing lots of city work then it may be 10k less. We call it condition based servicing. The onboard computer constantly adjusts the mileage to next service. By way of example, if you started doing city work, then switched to long trips, you would see the computer adjust the time to next service. |

You're not quite right here.
Not all BMWs come with the telematics/teleservice. However all BMWs come with BMW Assist, which includes a cell phone and gps. It's that cell phone, in connection with the CIC that calls BMW with it's request for service. |
