All,
Any opinions on the Beyern line? I want to stay with 19s so the ride isn't too harsh but maybe willing to go to 20s if I can find wheels that are strong. I am hoping that new wheels will be straight and true to solve my vibration issue. Im pretty sure my stock wheels have a small bend and my M5 reps are certainly slightly out of round. I am thinking the Spartan in Black. The rotary forging sounds strong but anyone with experience with these? I live in a city but judicious pot hole mitigation will always be part of my behavior. I really like the classic wheel designs and want the mesh look, but a strong design that won't bend easily. I have these TSWs in my possession (old pic), but will need them refurbished and repaired as one has a bend in it, but that costs $800. Various states of wheels since my ownership: First day of ownership: Current State: The TSW Mugellos on my old E60 (still have it) Last edited by krautmeister; 08-04-2016 at 02:28 PM.. No experience with these but had the multi spoke ones years ago. Beyern is made by TSW specifically for BMW's. Rotary Forged will be a little stronger/lighter than cast but still not invincible. Check out Forgestar F14's as they seem to be very popular around these parts.

Thanks for that. I know of both of those metal manufacturing methods but figured "rotary forging" was a new process. Yes I agree it's cast, forged, or billet. So I'll look elsewhere.
Seems a lot of wheels are "rotary forged" which leads me to believe it's as you say a new marketing buzz word. I'm not gonna drop HRE money into wheels on this car so any other forged options or strong cast options out there in the $300-$400 per wheel range?

BC forged at $5,000 a set, so all in about $6k for wheels and tires. I was prepared mentally for about $2,500.
Seems like I have a decision point here. Go expensive to get the strong, nice stuff or get mediocre grade that is decent quality that I can consider consumable that satisfies my "want" of differentiation and customization. In my single days, I may have done the expensive route due to myself being the only driver. Now... this is a baby transporter and at the sake of my marriage, I may need to spend a bit less and just come to terms that there will be bends and rash from errant mistakes from my non-car enthusiast wife. I think it will hurt less in my heart and wallet to go "cheaper"..... |

take a look at getyourwheels.com. They are a site sponsor/vendor and have a good selection of wheels at all sizes. Seem to be pretty competitive on pricing and offer a (limited, IMO) selection of tires as well for a one stop shop.

Are all OEM wheels forged??? I'm looking at a M5 Competition set or style 312. I am hoping if I stay with OEM, 20s will be stronger??
I think this is a members car: |

The only forged OEM wheels for F10 are style 343 (20" M5 wheels) if I remember correctly. |

We've used 18" Beyern wheels as a Plus 1 package on my wife's '08 E61 since probably 2011. Not winter, but spring, summer, and fall. Lots of potholes in Pennsylvania. Never a problem. I'd buy them again in a minute.

Hmmm that's a data point I can put some stock in... From Harrisburg myself and lived in The rust belt my early adult life so I understand.
I'm looking at various TSW offerings (Beyern included) as well that are "rotary forged". I could do a set of staggered 20s for $2500 all in with Bridgestone RE07s. Or I could do M5 competition with used Mich Pilot for $3300....hmmm

VS Forged is another new forged line. i dont know if its a complete forged wheel. i believe its about 2499 a set of 20s.
Are you more concern about strength? the problem with OEM wheels are they are heavy BUT could take a beating. My 343 wheels are forged but still a bit heavier than my BCForged wheels and those wheels are .5 wider all around. Im in the same boat as you as I want a different design wheels. For me, Im holding off to save a bit more so I can get a full forged wheels. If you are not in a rush, I suggest the same. |

Have a set of 20" TSW Bathurst rotary forged wheels. 17.1 lbs..strong as hell. Owned for 16 months and several potholes...holding up strong (using 35 profile tires) - Both from a finish and structural point of view. No complaints...seems to be as high quality as my previous BBS and SSR wheels

That strength allows TSW engineers to reduce the thickness of the outer barrel, reducing rotational mass. Even the largest Bathurst size, 20x10.5, weighs less than 25 lbs.
