Storing away soon?
Any of you guys storing the cars away soon? Dreading it, but wondering what you guys are doing for prep, and when.

I'm definitely storing it. Now the question is when. I did empty the tank of all e85 and added 93,drove 200 miles and added more 93. I really just keep it covered in a heated garage so it doesn't get dusty, and start it up 2x a week. Drive it up and down the garage once a week and call it a day. Best think to do would be to lift the wheels off the ground to avoid flat spots if sitting for longer periods

I have never prepped any of my vehicles before storing them, nor started them every few days or weekly etc. Maybe put a battery tender on it, but usually just drop it off before the first storm they'd salt the roads on, and go back in the spring, fire it up and drive it home. I have done this for over a decade and it's never been an issue.
I wouldn't leave your suspension drooping, if you're looking to avoid flat spots put the car on the rollable dollies so it's not sitting on the ground and it's contoured under the tires.

Been doing that for around 10 years no issues. If there is an exceptionally nice winter day i will sometimes take it out for a spin but that is it. But I've left cars all winter and they have been fine with NOTHING done to them. Being in a garage is nice but certainly not needed.

Drastic storage measures really only need be taken if you're putting something away for years. Think about how long new vehicles potentially sit on the lot untouched before someone comes and test drives one. Could be months at a time and they're all A-OK.

This year I'm adding a battery tender (old battery last winter, replaced this year) and rid of any E85 in the system. Usually, I do a full detail + sealant (Sonax Net Shield), inflate tires, and remove any parts to be worked on over the winter.
Come spring, she gets fluids changed, new spark plugs, and whatever I stock piled for parts haha. Last edited by zero2sixtyZ; 11-28-2016 at 10:26 AM.. |

Alredy have stored it haha. Drove with the e85 until car almost stalled. And then added 6 galons of 91 non oxy gas. And drove about 15 miles in map 4. I washed it and parked in the garage. But it sucks not driving it everytime i go somewhere.
