BMW issued a bulletin on traffic info?
So my traffic info hasn't been working and I asked my dealership about it. after looking things up, it seems there's a wide spread problem. And bmw has issued a service bulletin about it and I'm currently waiting for them to find a fix. Anyone else having this problem and where would I find these kinda info without having to call my dealership every couple of days to find out if and when they're figuring it out?

My Traffic Information Isn't Working Anymore Either
I used to use the red/yellow/green traffic flow map all the time - it was set this way on my 2013 535i when I bought the car brand new. I relied on it every time I drove, especially distances. And I used the destination/route information and suggested detours.
It stopped working a few months ago and hasn't worked since. I thought maybe I just took a bad software update, and I tried all sorts of things to make sure I had the right map chosen (the traffic info/flow map) but nothing has worked. I have been on the phone with BMW geniuses as well. They first said it was because my BMW Assist features were shut off when the car reached 4 years old. Okay, fine, so I will pay for it again, which I did. All seems right in the account information they have for me and the car. I have since taken several pushes/pulls from BMW corporate and it still doesn't work. They said that first it was a problem with the car and to bring in into my dealer. Now the dealer says that BMW corporate says it's because the service uses FM radio and FM radio stopped broadcasting traffic info for our area (Southern NJ, Philly area), but they don't know when it happened exactly and they don't have any information yet as to when it will resume. It is currently in the shop and I have told them I don't want the car back until it's fixed. I paid a lot of money for this car and I love it and I like my service advisor, but I am very frustrated. The bottom line is I had this service and it worked. I am paying an annual fee of $400 for it now and I don't have it and I want it back. Any suggestions? Anyone else in the Southern NJ/Philly area running into this? I'm looking for any commonalities at all so I can help figure out if it's a problem with only my car or if it's more widespread. |

I still have it in my 2011. Never pay any service fee. I think it is one of the option package.

Real Time Traffic Not Working - Part 2
Thanks folks, I'm the one who was charged the $400 by my dealer last week to renew this. My service advisor told me that after 4 years I would no longer get BMW Assist and BMW Connected Drive. This supposedly expired in my car when it hit 4 years old in May. It's a 535xi, 2013 model. It always worked before and I relied on it. A lot.
So I was told by my service advisor last week that if I paid the $400 renewal fee, I would get all of this back. I paid it and you know the rest. It doesn't work despite doing several pushes with BMW corporate geniuses. And my BMW service department has now had the car for a week. I asked them to run a full set of diagnostics on my nav system and to test other cars at the dealership (especially the new ones who get this automatically) to validate if it's a lack of broadcasting issue in my area like they claim. Pretty simple requests, one would think. The lack of a clear answer and the service department not doing these basic tests has me very frustrated to the point where, after buying three BMWs in the past six years, this one might be my last. I love my car but after paying almost 70K for it, I should not have to fight this hard to get something working again that used to work. |

It is one of those things that is nice to have but on the flip side WAZE is free and much more accurate.
Thats what I use when I in a rush.

I also have "6UH Traffic Information" (ARTTI) on my 2013. Should it continue to show the traffic after 4 years with this (it stopped) or do I have to start paying extra for it?

I've had no real issues with the RTTI. On the roads I use it is actually a bit more accurate than either google maps or the installed maps on my iPhone. The phone showed "red" traffic where my car showed "yellow"; which was the accurate information. |

I contacted BMW about this and was told the same thing, that it is a known wide spread problem specific to the 2013 F10.
The 2013 F10 is the only model that doesn't have 4G and didn't get an upgrade or rebate when 2G went away from ConnectedDrive since it has 3G cellular so I wonder if its related to that? |

I just got an email that my connected drive service expired which includes live traffic.
They want 200 per year of 450 for 3 years for a renewal. |
