I'm with OP - I want my ding-guards! My 14-year old X5 only have a couple of small dings with those ding-guards; but the ding-guards did its job and took a lot of abuse. This is with the mindset of always choosing the best possible parking spots in all situations - but sometimes, there just isn't an option.
Getting dings and chips are even uglier Aerodynamics? Does a tiny strip of plastic on the side make any difference below 90-100mph? |

Pretty much every auto-parts store has a variety of ding-guards.
BMW hasn't had them since at least the E46 era. Let's be realistic: it's not your problem (you're careful not to open your door(s) so wide that they bang the car parked next to you, right?) It's the other bozo in the clapped-out Chevy Cruze or whatever that bangs your door - no applique will stop those dings from happening. |

These are the best you can buy. I have them on my 4 and love them. I know they are not for everyone.

amen! why would you want those gaudy things on your doors?! the F10 has some of the cleanest body lines and you want to throw on some door guards don't you know the rules on who not to park next too? and whether or not you have enough space so that way the car next to you if they do open their door all the way that it won't hit you? or park next to a piece of **** car knowing they could careless if they hit your car? i'm the guy who parks at the end of the parking lot because there's people who could careless about your car! but than again there's those idiots who will purposely park next to you lol!
CLEAN!

Yes they are ugly when it is on the car, but at least they are removable so you can use them only when you feel it is necessary. I have the door defender and used it a handful of times when I have no choice but to park in a bad spot. Also I cut off the security cables, I figured if someone wants to steal them I rather they just take it instead of damaging my door. If you're worried about them scratching your car, there is nothing to worry about as long as you keep both your car and this clean. My car have the frozen finish so scratches can't be polished out and I have no worries using them and haven't had any scratches yet. |

They are not there because they detract from the beautiful lines designed into these cars.

Styles have changed. The E46 and E39 and friends were probably the last to have them (?) |

Mainstream E9x and E6x models lost the trims with the 'slab' sided designs. May look good, but so vulnerable to dings. |
