Finally, a hitch solution for the F97/98

Hey guys,

I've been exchanging some emails with Steve from Stealth Hitches. They make a gorgeous hidden hitch for the G01 which may be compatibile with our Ms. He needs to get an X3M or X4M to swing by his shop to verify. Does anyone live near Atlanta? ( I'd do it myself if it weren't for the fact that I live in Italy at the moment) I'd love to order this for my M if it'll work. If no one lives in Atlanta, does anyone know someone who works at the dealership there that might run one down to him? I've seen several folks here in this forum that love the X3M but are turned off by its lack of a factory hitch. If we found an even better aftermarket solution, it could help the dealerships as well when customers balk at the lack of a factory hitch. So do we have an Atlanta connection?

Here's a link to their G01 hitch......

Ciaooooooo........

+1. It's a deal changer for me not to have a hitch. Will go with a Merc GCL63 or X5 M50i otherwise.

Cool. Go to their website and email Steve. He seemed like a nice guy, and if we can prove this works, then we found a solution for our F97/F98?

I hope they can come up with a simple clean solution as my X4MC will be a lease. Easy bolt on / off with no visible bumper modifications.

That's exactly what they developed for the G01. I really think that kit is compatible with our Ms, we just need to test it.

Just for reference, here is the one they did for my AMG.

The first picture is the hitch installed and the receiver unplugged. You can't see anything at all.

Then you insert the receiver, which takes maybe 12 seconds and you are ready to go.

Sweet. It looks as promised. Thanks for the real world example. Let's hope someone can confirm compatibility with our F97/F98 soon. I may find myself moving unexpectedly back to the US in December. If so, I'd have my X3MC shipped to Dallas and drive it to my my potential new home in the DC area. If no one has been able to confirm compatibitly by Christmas, I'd detour through Atlanta to verify myself. Hopefully, someone will beat me to the punch.

If the weather holds up in December, we should run your X3MC against my AMG. It should be a very good race.

I am in Fort Worth.

Yes or at least I am trying to stay stock. This is likely the first car I have ever owned with no plans of tuning it.

I guess we would have to trust each other since there is no way to distinguish an ECU tune....

I’ll eventually have to pick up mine in Dallas too. Mine won’t have a tune either

If either of you want to meet be out at Texas Motorplex, I would love to do some 1/4 mile runs. I have been trying to set up a run against Scott55501 but I haven't heard back.

Hey, BrockD12 here in the forums posted that Stealth Hitch finally has our solution. I called them up to confirm and spent nearly an hour on the phone with one of their techs that worked on F97 solution. I also confirmed it is slightly different than their G01 offering. It's exactly what I needed, and I ordered the last one they had in stock shipping out tomorrow. Thanks, BrockD12, for the great news! It'll be good to get my tow on again!

OH, and they have a Halloween deal going now at 10 percent off!

Stealth hitch arrived this week, and I promptly installed it. Did it take 2.5 hours as they esitamed? No, double that actually for my first time. Did it meet my expectations in every way? Absolutely! Phenomenal product, and coming from an X3M40i with a factory hitch, I can now tow again! Seriously, this stealth hitch seems even better than my factory hitch on my previous X3M40i.....
