Looking for previous owner 2011 550i Silver Manual

I just ordered a 2011 550i from Carvana and it's being shipped. Has some details that show an enthusiast at one point or another owned it. I was hoping he/she would be a member here so I can get a little background on the vehicle.

The Height and exhaust seem altered, so maybe there is more to know about the vehicle. Any help is appreciated if anyone knows the owner.

Here are pics.

Congrats! The ride height looks normal to me, but the tires look to be a bit taller than stock.

First Carvana experience. A tad scary buying a car I've never seen. But in Tampa couldn't find a manual M sport that I was willing to pay for. There was one within 150 miles for 25k. No thanks haha.

I am running 245/45/19 on front and does not look like that. That may be lowered.

Yes. Carvana withheld ALL BMW sales until the older ones had all mandatory and voluntary recalls serviced. Couldn't buy one otherwise. NHTSA site and BMW sites show no open recalls and listed 7 recalls serviced in last 9 months. Carfax shows all dealer maintenance until 77,000 miles.

As best of a sight unseen purchase I could do I guess. Carvana was pretty awesome to deal with.

Congrats on the car. As we discuss about downpipes.

So I hope like carvana stated that all work performed was done to it. I dont know if the valve seals are part of it or not. At least the ccp must be done along with other tidbits.

I also have the 2011 550i, 6 speed manual. Bought it at 76k miles. I screwed up though tbh.

Total out the door with finance and all is 27k at the time (upcoming 3 years now). Hurts to see now they barely worth 15k on a good day.

And even though alot was done to the car prior of purchase, I still suffered valve seal issues.

New turbos, new index 12 injectors, alternator, battery, complete fuel system such as lpfp and hpfp, timing check, all coolant lines and other stuff done at end of 2016.

Now at 100k miles I performed the next major service.
Valve seals with all associated gaskets/seals
Ccv tubes
Air filters
One step closer plugs NGK
JB4 plus
X5M front brakes upgrade
Rear brakes overhaul
Fluid change
Thermostat upgrade(must have for 90c)
Another alternator and oil sensor(my bad)

I'm at 120k miles. Still showing zero oil consumption until 6k miles comes up for oil change. Life's good at the moment.

I have my trusty Honda for WHEN this car explodes. I know valve seals weren't done. Unless done off Carfax which is why I want to find the last owner.

That would have been smart to keep my Honda as well now that my power steering's gone

Garage List
2011 BMW 550i  [5.40]
Congrats on the buy and welcome to the club (if you're a 1st 550/N63 or evening 5 series owner).

I would start beating up on your local dealership (BMWNA if they won't help) for the oil consumption test and then have the CCP to have the valve stem seals done, don't take no for an answer.

I took mine in for injectors, long story short, they did the work without giving me a quote so to make things right they completed the oil consumption test and completed the valve stem seals, all new lines and hoses, motor mounts, CCV, plugs, HPFP, and the list goes on and on but I think my dealership receipt was around $16k+ and they covered all of it except for injectors because the car has to be 100% operational before they start the work.

I would definitely recommend getting it done just for piece of mind. Then again I have talked to other N63 owners and they have had zero issues but some got screwed and paid a % for a new motor. But when they run good, these cars are amazing!!! Zero oil consumption since as well. Enjoy the new whip, it's a great looking one!!

Having sold my wife's car to Carvana, I would personally never buy from them.

The selling experience was great, but the fact that they barely looked at it and offered me top dollar is questionable for the next buyer.

They offered me more than any dealership would take the car as a trade-in. They then came out, looked the car over briefly (didn't even take it for a test drive) and didn't ask for any records before handing over the check.

While there was nothing wrong with the car, there was no way for them to know that. I can only imagine how many times they buy cars like this without knowing of any issues, get it detailed and re-sell it to some poor soul not knowing what's about to hit them.

Well, they let you give it back 100 times if you want but 7 days is an arbitrary number that isn't enough to know if the car will have issues. So I agree.

But I know someone who works for their maintenance group and they SAID that the vehicles are serviced as best as possible so it's not a direct to buyer pass through.

So it's safe but not impossible to buy a dud.

Yeah, I'm not saying that their cars have issues. But just based on my experience someone could end up with a lemon if all they look for is cosmetic damage when they pickg it up. Of course, I don't know what they do after they pick up the cars. They may performing all the maintenance, but because they offered the best price, it would not be cost efficient to buy high and then do all the maintenance before selling.

100 percent. Plus, my buddy doesn't work as the mechanic so it's Internal info but still 3rd party. They've grown immensely so I'd assume they've had success. The cars are also a bit over priced so it goes in line with what they offered you. They're selling a convence at a premium. I willingly paid more for it but I'm sure it's 50/50 whether other people would as well.
