Brake Pad Options

What's everyone's goto pads to replace the dusty OEM pads.

Been seing lots of Isweep and EBC reds suggestions. Carbotechs seem to be less bite than OEM.

Ideally, would prefer more initial bite + MUCH less dust.

No personal experience with the EBC Reds but my friend tried them and said they dust less than OEM, but still more dust than other ceramic pads he had tried like Centric / StopTech.

I am leaning towards trying the PowerStop Z23 but haven’t quite decided yet.

Depends on your spot in line; we have 4 shipments on the way.

Current wait time should be 2 weeks

If they weren't so friggen hard to get (month long wait times here in Canada) I would have jumped on them lol.

Are there really no other options that offer better bite, less dust from Powerstop, Stoptech, etc.?

I haven't come across any tests specific to G42 / G87. My previous experience with Centric PosiQuiet pads was positive but that was on a GTI. Centric's site doesn't seem to list a matching pad for the rears.

A local shop recommended the Powerstop pads and their site clearly indicates that they acknowledge the different brake sizes available for the G42.

BTW - I also have a thread going on this topic in the G42 forum, but it hasn't had much attention.

In my opinion its the best option, that's what i plan on using on my car.

2-4 weeks is not that long of a wait

its not supposed to fully eliminate dust, but most are reporting 50-60% less dust, thats more than enough for me.

That would still be a lot of dust, especially for pads that just arent that good.

I was hoping for Girodisc magic pads but was informed not only do they not make them for G87 but no plans in the near future to manufacture them.

I will test it on my car soon and post my feedback.

It's one of our most popular products, and it's highly rated. Customers are happy with the performance and dust levels; of course, different people are looking for different things so i completely understand where you are coming from.

I was referring to G42. Hadn’t checked to see if they offer G87 compatible pads.
