F10 2015 battery

Hello everyone,

I am requesting your support to know if a battery is at 74% charge is considered low, and this could trigger the alarm?
I noticed that the alarm goes off if the battery is below 74% charge, once charged and exceeds the 79% the alarm does not trigger when locking the doors.

Thanks for your help

Your car only charge up to 80% so it is normal to be a little less than 80%.

If the battery is from 2015, I would go ahead and replace it. It is near end of life for it. You can tell by the date code stamped on the battery post. It should be 4 digits. First two is the week last two is the year. Remember to register the battery or else your new battery will not last long.

Hello
Thanks for your reply
I checked the date, the battery was replaced at 64740 km, so juste befor I buy it, know it’s around 140500km, I checked the date of the actual battery it was replaced during 10/2019, do you think it is normal that both batteries last less than 5 years?

Thanks 🙏

It is possible for it to fail within 5 years. I’ve seen it fail earlier than that and I’ve seen some that last 10 years.

Hello!
To maintain my BMW F10's battery, I use a trickle charger every 2-3 months. The battery never charges up to 100% due to the design of the vehicle's charging system. Modern cars like the BMW F10 have intelligent battery management systems that deliberately prevent full charging to prolong battery life and reduce wear. However, this can sometimes lead to sulfation, which affects battery efficiency. To manage this, I use a CTEK Charger (Model MXS 7.0) in order to avoid sulfation, the car still has its original 2015 battery.
