I have a 2013 F07. I was receiving the dreaded "Drivetrain Malfunction" code whenever I hit the gas to pass someone, or ramp up to highway speed, etc. Happened several times a day.

My mechanic said it was Code 120308 "Charging pressure to low" but he could not figure out how to fix that. Go figure.

So I took it to a mechanic who specializes in BMW. He said he did a smoke test, and the crank case vent hose and oil pressure sensor were both leaking. He was "confident" that a new vent hose (and the sensor which is on it) and pressure sensor would fix the problem. 1000 dollars later, it did not.

I took it upon myself to change out the turbo pressure solenoid. That made a big difference. Now, I get a "drivetrain error" code once every other day or so.

I hear no metal rattles, and the car performs just fine, although it does not feel as though the turbo is kicking in.

My car has 180k miles on it.

Any thoughts? I sure would appreciate them......thanks
