RFTs?

The more I've been reading about these run-flat tires, the more worrisome they become. Don't want to sound like a scare-d-cat but I'm just thinking about the consequences of a tire failure somewhere between Page and Flag or any rural area for that matter.

Some folks are getting rid of their RFTs asap. What's the sentiment here in the SW region? Are you going to keep your OEMs or get high performance standard tires and if so, what will you use for a spare?

Seems that BMW should have made these RFTs an option.

Unless you are buying an M car, the RFT seems to be the standard BMW tire. In terms of a failure, generally most of them state you can still drive up to 50 miles at up to 50 mph on a tire after it has gone flat. I don't know how rural you are, and if this is adequate. I think most people here are either ditching the tires at the beginning (more for performace preference), or plan to when the RFT's wear out. If you search the website, options have been mentioned for if a non-RFT goes flat, such as a BMW mobility kit, like used in the M cars, or a "mini-spare" option (I believe one of the vendors here even sells them for the 1).

This is all true.

Hey 3 to 1, which vendor carries the mini-kit? And what is the proper name for this so called kit?

Thanks,
