Update to increase longevity in transfer case
Well after my 3rd transfer case exploded driving down the road, my shop ordered a 4th one. this one (NEW) came leaking with bad seals. onto transfer case 5. I decided to go with Ravenol DTF 1 for it to keep in line with the rest of Ravenol fluids in the F10.

Sorry to hear that.
My e46 330xi was on its third transfer case when I got rid of the car. The second one was a BMW reman that lasted 60k miles or so. I wasn’t diligent about tire rotation at the time and I don’t know if that contributed to the problem. Don’t think my failures were fluid related. |
