don't buy from Parts geek - they are scammers
I ordered bunch of suspension parts for my E39 and the only reason why I tried them is because they had it all as a kit and free shipping. I got the parts and they were some else's return, parts were all damaged. I then called Parts Geek and their return policy is non existent. Good thing that I paid with paypal and they have buyer protection.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. Hopefully you'll be able to receive a full refund and can purchase via some of the other reliable merchandisers. I mainly utilize FCPEuro or ECS for most of my purchases.

I usually buy from FCP, but have a couple of older cars that I have been maintaining that are 14 and 18 years old and probably will not be in the fleet for more than another 2 or 3 years so I do not want to invest as much money in them as I would for newer cars I plan to keep. I have been trying some lesser brands. Hopefully it will go OK since labor is often significant and I do not want to waste my time doing the job twice.
TRQ is one lesser brand I have used a bit and so far has been good. I have tried a few others and ordered from Partsgeek a few times without issue. Also A1Auto. I rarely buy dealer parts. I usually try to find the OE supplier and if I cannot get the part from them, I will try an OEM supplier. Obviously the TRQ are not in those categories. But since I am maintaining 8 or 9 cars for family and friends for free, I will bargain shop sometimes. I prefer FCP to ECS or Turner or Pelican. FCP is family owned. The other 3 sold out to an investment fund that is only interested in maximizing profit. |

Update:
I opened the dispute with Paypal. Parts geek responded and demanded I return all of the parts on my cost. Mind you these parts are heavy and it would cost me more than the parts are worth to ship it back, this is how they scam. I then sent a trackable letter with a demand for them to send me shipping label. Using that tracking number I posted it to paypal dispute page. Once the letter showed "received". Paypal ruled in my favor. |

Great outcome, given all...glad to hear PayPal did the 'right thing'
![]() In most cases, use PP for pricey purchases when have no experience with an online reseller for just reasons you experienced. If site doesn't offer PP as a payment method, IMO, a bad sign and a no-go.

FCP scams, too. 1) Four years ago, I picked up a HPFP when mine failed. Went with the REIN reman'ed unit https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...in-13517616170 2) Got the pump, installed it, took the car on a test drive and it started bucking and stalling immediately. Limped it back home. Spent hours going over everything b/c surely it couldn't be the reman'd pump. It had to be something I did wrong, or something I forgot to do. Nope, it was the reman'd pump. 3) Left negative feedback about the purchase, and sent it back. 4) FCP REMOVED the negative feedback. They also removed someone else's negative feedback about the exact same pump a couple days later, but I had grabbed screenshots of both. Contacted customer svc., asked the rep why they're removing negative feedback, b/c that sways the buyer's opinion. He told me that wasn't possible, there wasn't a way to do that, until I showed him the before/after screenshots. 5) He then ADMITS in email that they've been having issues with those pumps failing b/c "Apparently, they bench test all of the units as part of the manufacturing process which is a good thing but they are using actual fuel when doing it. After they put fuel through the unit it's going to sit on a shelf for probably a few months before it's sold so if any fuel is left in the unit it would gum up and clog the unit. They have a cleaning process after it's tested to prevent this but there is an issue in that cleaning process they were using. Whether that be the chemical they are using to clean it or the actual pump they are using to clean it is not putting out enough pressure." To recap, FCP *knew* they were stocking and selling a defective product, but instead of pulling the pumps, they kept selling them and encouraged people to buy them by removing the negative feedback, resulting in some people having to pay TWICE for labor. SUPER frustrated b/c I had to do the work twice, and then had downtime b/c I had to wait for the brand new OEM pump I ordered from another supplier. I still have all the screenshots and emails. Seems they finally stopped selling them...FOUR YEARS AFTER I WENT THROUGH THIS.

true, like most of them are and their return policy is to blame the customer for everything. And FCP gives parts for free to Youtube car channels to shill for them. Then quality of the parts diminished over the years, nothing is made in Germany anymore

Which one, FCP or Pelican? NGL, I'll still buy and send back my oil and spark plugs from FCP, as you can't beat $30 oil changes and practically free spark plugs. But I've migrated everything else over to ECS at this point as they offer the same lifetime warranty on parts now.

I've been buying some random things from FCP. Oil change kit, serpentine belt kit, etc etc. I think about a year or two ago the DMTL pump failed that I bought from FCP. Started the RMA process and was given store credit for what I originally paid for the pump which the price at the time of the RMA was less.
I think I may have purchased some things with ECS but it was before their lifetime warranty went into effect. |

I've never had a problem with FCP. But I tried Parts Geek just once. I ordered the correct part, they sent me something that obviously was wrong, then expected me to pay to ship it back. A month later, I checked their website and it still showed the wrong part for my application. Guess they don't bother learning from their mistakes when it costs them nothing.

I've had similar issues with Rein stuff as you, luckily nothing as expensive as a HPFP, but I bought both the upper and lower radiator hoses. Both leaked until I replaced them with BMW ones, which have never leaked since. I did the front crank seal on my E92 with an "OE" corteco, which ended up being a Chinese seal that leaked since day one. Redid it with a BMW seal and no leaks since. Nowadays I take a very close look at their "OE" marked products to make sure that they're actually OE. Other than that they are pretty good, if there is ever a concern they've taken care of me well. I had them miss a part or 2 in one of my orders and they immediately shipped them out, no questions asked. Maybe it's because I've spent a ton of money there. |
