550i Arrived last Friday - first weekend thoughts

I picked up my 550 this past Friday and here are my thoughts and impressions after the first weekend and 100 miles.
The good:
• OH GOD WHAT AN ENGINE, even when entering a highway onramp I’m using about 1/4th of the throttle to get into 70MPH traffic
• The interior feels so much more rich and refined than my 08 X5, and is far more quiet on the road than my X5 and even the last generation 5 series
• Comfort seats with Nappa Leather well worth the money, but as I’ve seen stated here before, it takes a bit to get them adjusted correctly
• With the sport package and 19” run flats the car feels solid and connected to the road, some have complained that the ride is stiff, I find it just right, it’s not going to ride as soft as a Lexus or as firm as a Ferrari
• I haven’t experienced the dead steering feel I’ve seen mentioned in other posts. I don’t have the dynamic handling package so there is only the “default” on the steering. I do remember the 550 I test drove had the dynamic handling and the steering felt very light at the “normal” setting
• The thumb scroll on the right side of the steering wheel is great for searching through the current playlist and push to select on the iPod
• The split screen is cool, navigation on one side, iPod on the other
The bad:
• Even with the HUD I still get the reflections on the windshield that people complain about (from both the HUD and the center speaker), and with the brightness all the way up I get an orange rectangle on the windshield as well (I know, simple solution, turn down the brightness)
• Coming from an X5 I miss the deep foot wells
• The car was a WK34 production, on the order it specified the VC6 Combox, when the car arrived it didn’t have this
• I’m still trying to figure out how to import music from the USB port in the glove compartment
• The iPod integration has improved search capabilities over my last car, but it seems unnecessarily complicated
• The center console is so small and capable of holding little more than my iPod
• Buttons on the left of the steering wheel should be for volume, right for track changes, this is going to take some driver training, maybe I’ll eventually quit messing with the cruise control when trying to adjust the radio volume
Things I would have done differently:
• Add the Convenience Package, for no other reason than the soft close doors. The car is so air tight that more often than not it takes more than one attempt to close the doors
• Living in Texas I should have gone for the ventilated seats
• I should have rejected the car and had them re-order one with the Combox

Ordered mine last week, production is scheduled for the 44th week. I can't wait for it's arrival. I love the power of the 550i. What is a VC6 Combox?

Req. Prod: 2010/07/30
Sub. Prod: 2010/10/40
Conf. Prod: 2010/10/43

These are on my order form. They are year/month/week, correct?
Now, when is my car going into production? I'm assuming that Conf. Prod. means confirmed production and it is going to happen on the 43rd week. What is Sub. Prod. with the 40th week? Which one did you pick to figure out that your car is scheduled for the 44th week?

Have a look at the bulletin here:
http://f10.5post.com/forums/attachme...9&d=1278946032

the short version is there are a few updates to the iPod interface and bluetooth functionality. I stream a lot of Pandora and Slacker radio through my iPhone, I would have love to be able to do that over a bluetooth connection rather than having to connect via the Y-cable.

Yes, you should have this on your build.

No idea what Sub. Req is, but these were the numbers on mine. . . . and yes the last number is the calendar week of production.
Mine was a WK 34 build:
[Yr/Mo/Wk]
Req. Prod: 2010/09/36
Sub. Req. Prod.: 2010/08/34
Conf. Prod.: 2010/08/34

What are the options on your F10? Does it have the sport auto transmission or the dynamic drive control ie the toggle switch with normal/sport?

When I was at the Dealership my salesman was showing me the order and on the order form it stated week 44 build. And you are absolutely correct it is the yr/mo/wk. You're scheduled for the last week of October. Me, first week of November. Post pics when you receive, I definitely will.

I kept things fairly basic:
NASW - Black Nappa Leather
ZP2 - Premium Package 2
ZSP - Sport Package
205 - STEPTRONIC automatic transmission
322 - Comfort Access
610 - Head-up display

I didn't order the flappy paddle gearbox or dynamic handling package.
