Optimal manual shifting opinions on the 535 F10
So we all have that display that reccommends what gear we should be shifting into - but how religiously should we follow it? Obviously the beauty of a manual tranny is that you can shift when yu like and at whatever RPM. This is the first BMW i've had with six gears, and it seems the dashboard is prompting you into 5th and then 6th gear at 40mph.. in my old 5 speed 530i with five gears my shifting zones seemed different.
I personally shift every 10mph (at 3000rpm) from 0-40, then i'm riding in the creamy smooth 5th or 6th gear. Anyone else like to better explain the gears/gear range, or their personal shifting style? |

Glad to see that there's another member on the forum that has a 6SP manual...
IMO, the display only exists to get an optimal fuel consumption I personnaly shift at 3000-3500rpm in normal driving and then I shift in the gear that the car suggests me in order to save fuel (ex: 5th gear @ 40mph) so I could go first gear, second, third and then fifth to save fuel
