Connected drive question
Hi fellow bimmers,
I'm picking up my new F10 in 2 days. I ordered it in England because of the huge price difference and i'm bringing it back to France where i live (i got Left hand drive and euro specs) My only concern is that my vendor thinks that connected drive might not work in France I can't understand why. If ti's a european car, why on earth can't i program it so that connected drive works in France ? Any hints greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Elie Last edited by elie06; 10-21-2010 at 01:39 AM.. |

Hmm, no answers yet...
Come on, guys, hasn't anybody tried connected drive ? Does it call a special number that could change on a country by country basis or does it access the internet portal thru the 3G phone connection ? Please share Your thoughts on this matter... Kind regards, Elie |

Hi,
I think it depends on a/which telecom provider in your country has the ability to 'do' the connected drive service, like i.e. Vodafone. I'm still waiting on that system to initiate as well for the reason above.... But I could be wrong. Cheers Robin |

Its just operative in some european countries. According to my dealer it will be active in Norway at least around newyears, so they are probably taking one country at a time.

BMW equip the car with SIMs to connect to Deutche Telekom mobile companies whom they've done the deal with for ConnectedDrive. That's T-Mobile in the countries where it's available - and no deal has been done in France (not sure T-Mobile exist there either?)
So basically, the embedded SIM won't function, and you wont be able to connect to BMW. |
