I like the fact that when i pick up the phone my radio pauses until i am finished.

what has anyone else discovered?

that the thumb wheel on the steering wheel allows you to scroll through your current playlist on your iPod, and you can push it like a mouse to select the track

This works for the phone book and the radio too mate!


That the "voice control" button on the steering wheel, which the deal said didn't work as I hadn't bought that option, actually does work but only has part fuctionallity! You can do last dialed and dial a number, but when you ask for a contact from the phone book it claims that its empty.......anyone know whats wrong?

Glad to hear it's not just me! My phone's phone book loads to the car but I had the same problem with it claiming that it was empty.

I was at lunch with a friend and I thought I'd try the voice command feature and demonstrate it to him. So I said "dial number" and it said "say number" and I told him to give it his number so he says "919-555-1234" and it replies "966-666-6734-3847-221" so I think maybe there's a software update in our future?

I've got the boss' numbers in my shortcut preset keys, and I call her the most anyway.

Lemme see, back to the OP:

The only thing that has really surprised me is the excellent gas mileage that I am getting. And this on a new tight engine as well.

And the headlights are awesome. I've had xenons before, but these seem even brighter. And the high beams could probably burn out the retinas of anyone with the misfortune to be coming the other way.

LOL, mate, I've had random numbers repeated back to me also...but now found if you do it a section at a time she repeats it back to you before you carry on. I couldn't seem to find any instructions about this in the manual.

Another thing I love about our new F10 is the amount of room in the back seats! Its almost Limo-like!

I found out that if you press the "decrease distance between your car and the car in front button" (for cars with active cruise control) for about 3 seconds you deactivate the distance control and you will still have the cruise control on. So with out the distance control on, the car wont freak out every time someone jumps in front of you to overtake someone else.

You don't need to put the transmission in P. Pressing Stop moves it to P automatically.

I also have basic voice control even though I didn't order it.

With auto lights switched on the trip computer part of the display changes backlighting from white to red when it gets properly dark outside.

You can program the 8 numbered buttons on the centre dash to pull up different menus and if you hover your finger over the button the display will show what's been programmed for that particular button.

If you leave the gear lever in the manual position and turn the ignition off it miraculously moves back to the park position.

... and the Lady in the car ... she so far could not give me the correct phonebook entry to my voice commands. She can't get my accent right

Is she German, American or English - I am None of them, but my BlackBerry lady understands me very well !

Is there a way I can train her for my voice?

Question on this. In my E60 I didn't have nav, but I had basic voice controls for the phone only. On my F10, I also don't have nav, but I don't even have phone voice controls. Should this work, or was this "change" new for the F10 (i have one of the first few weeks of production).

That also, and most annoyingly, happens when you open the driver's door. Gone are the days of leaning out to see what you're reversing into. Yes, I know there's the rear camera and sensors, but there's no substitute for actually seeing where you are when you're in a particularly tight spot.

Am pleased as punch. Placed my order and now waiting for it to be delivered. January 2011. So, after that, I too can let you all know whats fantastic about the car.

Took a test drive and man, did that blow me away. And that was the 523. I am getting the 528 - so should be 'awesomer'

This is a great function and makes the daily grind, less taxing. But keep in mind.:
1. that if you turn the car off with the autohold function on, it will automatically engage the electronic parking brake.
2. In reverse, the auto hold will not let you reverse, unless you give the car gas. It's an odd feeling, when you are trying to reverse into a spot.

Is there a way to mute the stereo with the buttons on the steering wheel like in the E60?

I have discovered that I can push the volume button up to unmute if I have turned the stereo off by pushing the volume nob on the stereo.
