First Extended Trip
Just returned from my first extended trip with the 2011 535i. I was a little nervous as i had to have the main computer replaced after after 900 miles. Went from Massachusetts to Georgia and back over a 31 day period. Traveled 3,842 miles @ 30.4 MPG. Entailed 90 hours behind the wheel. Trip was awesome. No car problems at all and the ride was smooth, quiet and comfortable. GREAT CAR!!!!!!:

Hit 120mph at one point, barely even pushed the car.
Let me get this straight. Are you saying that the 535d is faster than a petrol 535i?

0 -100 kph (62 mph) 535i - 6 sec (6.1 auto), 535d - 5.7 sec. Check here: http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/pricesand...-bmwuk,00.html Granted, the 'i' at 306 HP has a slight top-end power advantage over the mere 299 of the 'd', but it's all that diesel torque that really propels you off the mark; 400 Nm in the 'i', 600 in the 'd'. Having said all that there probably wouldn't be much of a difference in a shoot-out. They're both very fine cars, but UK fuel prices have a significant impact on decision making. |

600 Nm is a huge amount of torque.
The Mercedes S63 AMG (6.2 litre V8 petrol) has 630 Nm - but that's at 5200 rpm. The 535d delivers it's torque from low revs. What a car! |

What is the speed limit in the states now? 65? I heard its 75 somewhere, is that right?
In Austria the speed limit is pretty cool. Not as in Germany of course, but I like that roadsign. |
