2011 550ix Sport lowering

I have a problem with the height of my 550ix Sport. Simply sits too high. Dealer said high because of AWD. I think he's high. Look at Audi S5 or S6. They're AWD and don't sit high like my car. Need some springs. Anyone making them for the ix?

BMW simply chose to sit the xdrive cars higher for winter snow clearance.

Nobody makes any springs for the xdrive yet. I would think sometimes in early to mid 2011 (just a guess)

Any news on this?
Hear some rumors about the drive shafts coming in a bad/critical angle if you lower the xDrive cars?

I emailed Racing Dynamics USA and they advised that the lowering springs for the XI F10s are not available in north america at this time. They offered no more information than that.

I will be taking delivery of my 535xi MSport in a few weeks, and already can't wait to lower it. The F10 535xi is significantly higher off the ground than the E60 535xi with MSport. I don't think there's any reason why the car can't sit significantly lower as the E60 MSport 535xi did.

This is one of the reasons I ordered the standard (non adjustable) suspension. I want to dial in a lower stance with stiffer springs and my thought was that it would be easier to do with the standard suspension.

If anybody has word on lowering springs for the F10 XI applications, please post the information!

I´m also waiting for a xdrive solution. The 550ixDrive sits too high and the springs are too soft.

My contact at BMW says they are working on a different design, for the front drive shafts, for the upcoming 550xd and M50D M Performance diesel.
This is because of the front suspension geometry / drive shaft angle.

There will be more wear on the universal joints if you lower a xDrive car ( 535, 550 ).

UPDATE:

I have been speaking to Joe @ Trinity Autosport and he confirms RD Sport Springs (same as the original kind Lacster had on his 535i) are available for the 2011 BMW 535xi with the standard suspension.

Yea, but he just swithced out the RD springs as he said the ride is 'flat' and went with KW V3 setup.

Maybe this is the better setup afterall, given the RD springs are not cheap in the first place.

Anyhow, it's an option for XI owners where there were none before. I'll have to go back to Lacster's original review before he went to the coilovers, which will always outperform lowering springs. Good to see some aftermarket paying attention to the XIs.
